What “18″ means to Hayden Panettiere: cigarettes and porn?

When David Letterman asked Hayden Panettiere what being 18 meant to her, the just-turned-adult starlet replied:

“The only things I can do is buy cigarettes, porn and if I get in trouble with the law, I’m kind of screwed.”

A lot of OMG reactions are sure to come from that statement, and gossip mags say she’s on her way to becoming another Lindsay Lohan. But com’n now. I think this girl has a better head on her shoulder than the tabloids put her to be (or want her to be).

It’ll be a while before we find out just what kind of celebrity she’ll turn out to be but judging from the people who support her, mainly her parents, I think she’ll turn out alright.
