Smallville season 8, episode 1 - "Odyssey" spoilers
July 14, 2008 by Grace
Last weekend’s spoilers for Smallville season 8, episode 1 “Odyssey” have the Justice League members rescuing Clark. Green Archer (Justin Hartley) is leading the pack in this new expedition. And they’ll be successful, so we can assume there will be some celebration going on.
Another celebration in the wings might be… Chloe’s wedding! Chloe will accept Jimmy’s proposal!
In other news, the producers are looking to cast several guests:
- Kat - a young eager assistant for Tess, who takes over Luthorcorp in the absence of Lex.
- Nicolai - man who works on a boat with Clark near the Arctic
- A scientist, a guard and a researcher. Now you wonder what’s going on in the Arctic to have these extras being cast.
Smallville season 8 premieres October 2, 2008.

Justin Hartley comes back for Smallville season 8
He is definitely second only to Tom Welling/Clark Kent/Superman in the area of good looks, talent and great powers… well, as far as Smallville fans are concerned, that is.
YUP. It’s Justin Hartley as the uber-hunk millionaire Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. And he’s back for Smallville season 8… as a series regular! Which means, we will see more of him on the show. Justin Hartley has a talent holding deal with CW, which means the network is paying him to stick around since they don’t want to lose him to another network. Good for us, right? And good for Clark Kent too!
If Clark Kent has a big brother, it would be Oliver Queen (and not Lex Luthor!). Several times in the past seasons, Oliver had challenged Clark to use his powers for doing mankind good, and not just hang around Smallville waiting for lightning to strike. Oliver has seen some of Clark’s powers but he still doesn’t know Clark’s true identity. I think if he does, the hero in green tights would push for his younger bro’ to wake up and gets his arse off the Smallville farm. Who knows, the Green Arrow just might save Clark from the clutches of Lex Luthor at the Fortress. But that’s just my speculation. Who knows what the writers come up with. I’m just really happy to know there is another regular superhero on Smallville. The Justice League is back again!

Smallville star Tom Welling sheds good boy looks
June 6, 2008 by Grace
Whenever Smallville goes on break for the summer, expect Tom welling to shed his good-boy Clark Kent looks, and grow back his beard. I have yet to see him grow a beard for Smallville… maybe that’s something we can pitch to the show execs especially since this fall’s season 8 is the final year. (CW listening?)
Here is Tom at the “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum” on May 5, 2008. Clean-cut, shaven, dashing.
A few weeks later, we see Tom Welling at the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic on Governor’s Island on May 31, 2008 in New York City, talking with Polo player Polo player Nacho Figueras. A very casual Tom in characteristic checked blue shirt sported an almost-full beard. (image after jump)
Smallville: full details on complete season 7 DVD
Warner Bros. Home Video released details of the Smallville: The Complete Seventh Season, available September 9, 2008 on DVD and Blu-Ray.
Like the seasons before it, the completed seventh season traced the development of Clark Kent/Kal El’s character. One recurring theme that Clark’s friends kept telling him was that the world is bigger than Smallville, and he needs to let go of whatever holds him back. And like the seasons before it, the seventh season brought back to life some of the characters from the Superman mythology, like Kara and Bizarro. Long lost cousin Kara/Supergirl figures prominently into challenging Clark Kent’s myopic view of his world. Bizarro challenges Clark Kent’s destiny. But in the end, it was his best friend-turned-archenemy who threatened to end everything that Clark Kent would someday become.
Some of the extra features in the DVD include a Supergirl documentary, “Jimmy on Jimmy” featurette, Smallville Legends Mobisodes Gallery, a comic book, unaired scenes, and cast & creator commentaries on two key episodes. MovieWeb described the special features in detail.
Smallville 7.20 “Arctic” season finale - review

Smallville episode 7.20: Arctic (season finale)
Airdate: May 15, 2008
This episode really felt like the last day of school before senior year. You know you’ll see your friends again after the summer, but also know that when school opens in the fall - it’s your last year together.
Knowing that “Arctic” is the last episode before the final year begins in the fall, and the fact that two of the main actors are leaving the show… this episode brings a lot of nostalgia and closures with it… but on to the review first.
After his cover was blown at St. Christopher’s church, Edward Teague escapes to South America in a chartered jet. Unfortunately, Kara intercepted his plans and acting as a stewardess, demanded the location of the device that controls Kal El. In threat of his life, Teague reveals the name of Lex Luthor.
At the mansion, Lex learns that two of his advance teams to the arctic simply vanished. Jimmy enters the room and Lex tells him to get Lois off his back by helping her find some false information - an oil drilling expedition. Otherwise, he’ll drop Chloe back into the lap of the Dept. of Domestic Security.
At the farm, Lois tells Clark that an internship position at the Daily planet has just opened, and Clark would be perfect for it. Her spiel of Clark being destined for greater things in life than working on a farm, she hit bulls eye without knowing it. Chloe interrupts the conversation to tell Clark that Teague’s plane went down an hour after take off. Chloe and Clark go to the Isis Foundation and hacking the NTSB, Chloe gets the blackbox recording. Clark zeroes in to hear Kara’s conversation with Teague about Lex.
Kara goes to the mansion and finds the orb, but it turns out that she can’t use it. Clark appears immediately from behind her and Kara tells him that she didn’t want anyone controlling Clark. She will do everything she can to save the planet, even when Clark won’t. She kicks Clark on the head when he tried to stop her.

Smallville episode 7.20: Arctic (season finale)
Airdate: May 15, 2008
Since the first year, Smallville has always delivered season finales that are major cliffhangers. And this being the last season before the final year, “Arctic” looks like it’s going to be one awesome episode.
Here’s what we know so far: (spoilers!!!)
- Lex will discover what the location on the holographic globe points to, and Kara will take him there - to the Fortress of Solitude
- Brainiac has taken over Kara’s body, and the real Kara is trapped in the Phantom Zone
- Chloe is arrested by the Department of Domestic Security
- Lana wakes up from her comatose, and she’ll get better, but she will leave town.
- Finally, Clark and Lex will face off with each other in the Fortress
As we already know, this is the final year for Michael Rosenbaum and Kristin Kreuk as regular casts. So I hope we see their characters get some major airtime! Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar are also leaving Smallville as producers.
