“Heroes” Adrian Pasdar wins Saturn Award
June 26, 2009 by Grace
It was good to know that Adrian Pasdar won the best supporting actor category at the 35th Saturn Awards this weekend.
Adrian was exceptional in “Heroes” season 3 as the back-stabbing, self-serving senator Nathan Petrelli who got all the post-humans in big trouble with the government. Up until his last days, you never knew whose side Nathan was on. Let me rephrase that – Nathan will always look after his own skin, no matter whose side he’s on. And that’s what Adrian Pasdar portrayed really well last year.
So, congrats to Mr. Pasdar for the recognition!
Saturn Awards is one of the most notable events in the science fiction fantasy film industry, and getting recognized by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films says something about the work that actors do in his genre.
Also in attendance at the Awards was Christine Rose, the stunning Kristen Bell, and a host of other stars, photos of which I’ll post up next.

So, it’s back to the Sylar Wars again. He’s hungry for power and he wants it all. Sylar is now hell-bent on becoming President, and the heroes must stop him. But how do you kill an immortal like Sylar? Arthur Petrelli would have come in handy, to absorb his powers. Oh, wait. Sylar already killed him.
And, it’s up to the Petrelli clan to stop a man like Sylar. But what can a flying man and power-copier/flying man do, really? Unless Peter absorbs Claire’s invisibility, or Claire gets the guts to fight another immortal like herself, the Petrellis are no match for the pyscho who has some serious self-esteem problems.
Meantime, there is still the Hunter, you know. Who’s gonna stop him?
Watch the trailer and see if you can catch anything about how this season is going down.

Sylar is just freaking scary! No matter what he does, even when he became tamed in a possible future with his child Noah, Gabriel Gray will always be a Sylar.
In these promo images for the Heroes episode “I Am Sylar”, Nathan comes face to face with Sylar, and it’s a deja vu’ of a distant possible future we saw in past seasons… when Sylar shape-shifts to Nathan’s likeness and becomes President of the United States. (Aha! Sylar doesn’t even have to use Candice’ powers to become Nathan!)
So Sylar gets to Nathan… and Micah the Rebel! But will Danko stop Sylar dead? More pictures after the cut.

Here’s another scene playing on the strange dynamics inside the Petrelli clan. Nathan confronts Peter about the bad blood between them, accusing his little brother of running away every time things get tough. Peter puts that back to Nathan’s face by telling the senator he’s the one who disappeared instead of fixing the problem in DC. And then Peter goes into this memory about the 1986 World Series with a crucial game 6 that the Mets won over the Sox.
I totally agree with Peter! Nothing, so far, that Nathan does is purely selfless… well maybe one – when he saved Peter from the NY explosion. But even with that, he cursed Peter for his disfigured face after the accident.
Oh, the Mets won the World Title in game 7.

It looks like the Petrelli family never runs out of secrets! As the volume comes to a close, more shocking revelations about the Petrelli family are uncovered. We already knew from previous episodes that Angela has a sister, and it could be why she brought her whole family to a deserted town. It looks like the sister – Wendy - has powers too!
In this promo trailer, someone named Alice (in Wonderland?) causes such a whirlwind that Noah Bennet flew away! And a little girl mentions she is waiting for a “Dr. Suresh”. Mohinder, or perhaps the elder Chandra?

You can feel it in the air as you watch “Heroes” that it’s off to a climactic finale. With only three episodes left, the heroes might have a fighting chance at surviving. But first Angela needs to make them understand something. So she reunited her family – Peter, Nathan and Claire - to this God-forsaken burned up deserted town… and had them start digging…
Monday’s episode ended with the revelation that something awful has happened to this place, that people died and were buried here. To cover up something?
Here are more images for next Monday’s episode “1961” – the year it all began.
Heroes 3.24 “I Am Sylar” – description and spoilers

When Sylar took the power of the shapeshifter, he thought he can be whoever he wants to be. He would be harder to track down and easier to evade capture. Not that Sylar is known to back down, or run away from a challenge, but having the ability to change identities can be pretty handy. Unfortunately for the psychopath killer, the new ability comes with an “unexpected identity crisis”. Will Sylar become a liability for the Hunter?
Meanwhile, the heroes still need to take down the Hunter’s operations. Who’s going to step up? Matt’s got new daddy roles to play now, so he might be pre-occupied. There’s Peter, and Angela, if they can figure out what to do. Nathan and Claire, maybe. How about Hiro and Ando? Will Hiro get his powers back?
Masi Oka revealed a little spoiler about Hiro’s abilities -
“When Hiro gets his powers back, there’s kind of a final mission. Rebel has something in mind for them once the current mission is over. So, we’re moving forward to a finale that wraps a lot of things up. [Hiro is] going to have a hand in trying to fix that situation [of heroes being captured] somehow. But it also forces him to make a choice, and he’s going to have to make a sacrifice in a situation that could be life threatening.
Interesting isn’t it! Well, here is the episode description for “I Am Sylar”, which is the last episode prior to the finale. There is no hint about how things will end but we’re getting there:
SYLAR’S NEW ABILITY BEGINS TO TAKE ITS TOLL ON HIM – EMMY AWARD-WINNER ZELJKO IVANEK GUEST STARS – Sylar (Zachary Quinto) continues his unusual partnership and begins to have an unexpected identity crisis. Hiro (Masi Oka) and Ando (James Kyson Lee) take measures toward bringing down Building 26. Meanwhile, Matt’s (Greg Grunberg) new found fatherhood changes his priorities. Elsewhere, Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) sets a plan in motion to right the wrongs of his government operation. Jack Coleman, Hayden Panettiere, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Cristine Rose and Milo Ventimiglia also star. Noah Gray-Cabey, Lisa Lackey and Ellen Greene also guest star.

It was weird how things turned out for the Petrelli family! Who knew that Peter’s prayers were answered. Or that’s what we’re made to think of, as he and Angela made their way out of the church. At least Angel got to sleep, and dream, and now she knows what direction to take next.
Her directive: gather the remaining members of the Petrelli family – Peter, Nathan, Angela and Claire. How they will save themselves and others with abilities is yet unknown. But Angela is back, and the balance of power is going to be restored.
Here is the trailer for next Monday’s episode “Turn and Face the Strange”. It has very little spoiler, except for a hint when Angela refers to a rural area as where everything began.

1961 was the year that Primatech Papers (aka Company) was founded. Previous episodes from seasons back revealed how the founding members started out with high hopes of making a better place, but began to change course somewhere along the way.
The episode description for “1961” hints at the past coming back to haunt Angela. Interesting that the Petrelli’s present dilemma all comes back to the Company. What goes around comes around.
What spoilers await us in this episode?
- Bob Bishop returns, and his younger version is an awkward geek with a heart of gold, who by the way has powers of alchemy.
- A young Chandra Suresh is involved in some secret government research.
- A young Angela Petrelli did start out as “a dreamer looking to make the world a better place”.
- Angela’s younger sister, Wendy, is a spirited intelligent girl who worships her older sister. (Who from the hints of “Into Asylum” might has powers of her own too.
THE HAUNTING SECRETS OF ANGELA PETRELLI’S PAST CAN’T STAY BURIED FOREVER – As Nathan (Adrian Pasdar), Claire (Hayden Panettiere), Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) and H.R.G. (Jack Coleman) help Angela (Cristine Rose) uncover her past, she reveals the dark secrets that have haunted her for years. Meanwhile, Mohinder (Sendhil Ramamurthy) learns of his father’s involvement in a long forgotten government operation. Diana Scarwid, Alexa Nikolas, Laura Marano, Ravi Kapoor, Casey Kringlen, H. Michael Croner and Edwin Hodge guest star.
