Heroes GN # 115 "Truths" about Arthur Petrelli

December 10, 2008 by Grace

The latest "Heroes" graphic novel ties in really well with Monday’s episode, and specifically the death of Arthur Petrelli.

heroes.novel.ch115-truths

The GN "Truths" is Arthur Petrelli’s last moments in life. His memories take us back to when the Petrelli boys were still young. Peter has always been the softhearted brother while Nathan was calculating and the take-charge oldest son, but has no abilities.

Arthur took them deer hunting and Peter couldn’t muster to kill a deer, much to his father’s disappointment. Angela suggested that they ask Dr. Zimmerman to give Nathan powers instead, if Arthur believes his son will get the job done.

In his last moments in life, Arthur proves that Peter has the guts to take a life, after all, and that "was the best feeling in the world… Now I know my sons are strong enough to do what must be done."

How easy is it to kill Arthur Petrelli? Angela thinks it’s just a bullet to the beack of the head, but only Peter can do. But if it were that easy, how come no one has done it yet? And why does it have to be Peter?

Watch the sneak peek video courtesy of Sprint, and tell me that you don’t think she’s manipulating her own son.

Heroes-308-villains-03Four sneak peeks into next Monday’s episode “Heroes”, three of it about the Petrelli family, and one of Sylar.

  • Petrelli family #1: Nathan is investigating Linderman and Arthur is ready to have Nathan killed to protect their secrets.
  • Sylar’s scene: Gabriel took something from someone at a terrible price. Elle is there consoling him, believing Gabriel to be a good person.
  • Petrelli #2: This was right after the accident when Nathan learns his wife Heidi will not walk again. He blames Linderman for the attempt and tells his father he will bring down Linderman.

Heroes 3.08 "Villains" - sneak peek

October 31, 2008 by Grace

Heroes episode 3.08 “Villains
Airdate: November 10, 2008

So remember back in season 1, Assistant DA Nathan Petrelli went after his father for some major crime, and someone tried to kill Nathan in a car chase that got his wife to break her spine. That was also the first time Nathan flew.

When Nathan got his father convicted of a crime, Arthur died suddenly on the day of his conviction.

This sneak peek is a flashback to a time just after that attempted murder, and Angela wants to know if Arthur was behind it.

Do you believe Arthur? It’s interesting that Angela seems to genuinely care for her family, like a good mother would. Compare her (and Arthur) to the present and you won’t even have guessed this couple had heart. Or is this all an act?

Heroes 3.08 "Villains" - promo images

Happier times at the Petrellis, how handsome they all look! Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) and his dad Arthur (Robert Forster) in a tux, how nice. This must be in some past event, since Peter still has the long bangs.

Heroes-308-villains-02

But I doubt these were the good ol’ days either. Petrelli is probably onto  something, plotting his next move with war buddy Linderman. (more hi-res images after the cut)

In the GN “War Buddies” the young Linderman was portrayed as someone who wanted to help heal people, but his partner Petrelli has been shady from the start. I still wonder how Linderman turned and became a villain, who actually believes he does the world good.

Heroes 3.07 "Eris Quod Sum" - 4 sneak peeks!!!

October 23, 2008 by Grace

Heroes episode 3.07 “Eris Quod Sum
Airdate: October 27, 2008

Have I got a sneak full of spoilers! Four scenes preview what Monday’s episode is all about. “Eris quod sum” - “I am what you will be.” Is the future inevitable? Here is what you’ll see from the video, which for spoiler’s sake I’ll add after the cut.

An honest girl talk. Elle Bishop invades the Bennet’s home and Claire and Elle fight it out. But it’s not what it seems like. Elle is asking for help. And she and Claire have an honest girl talk.

Father versus son. Last episode we saw Arthur take away Peter’s powers and lock him up. The father gives him another chance to help “for the greater good” to prevent what Peter foresaw of the future. Can Peter trust his dad?

Maya’s powers - gone. Poor Mohinder. If only he knew it were this easy to take away Maya’s powers… but would he trade taking it away to someone who wants it all?

Mohinder’s plea. This scene probably came before the one before it, but Mohinder asks for one more chance from Nathan and Tracy, to understand how synthetic powers work.

Heroes 3.06 "Dying of the Light" - review

October 20, 2008 by Grace

Heroes episode 3.06 “Dying of the Light
Airdate: October 20, 2008

Even after the Level 5 fiasco, I never doubted that those who possess Sylar’s powers - him and Peter - can do the greatest harm. That is, until dad comes along. Arthur Petrelli is scary. He is now virtually unstoppable and everyone around him is dispensable.

But first let’s see what went down -

Heroes-306-dyingofthelight-03 Knox took Adam Monroe in to see a bedridden, immovable Arthur Petrelli, and for the first time Adam was scared for his life. Arthur only had to touch him and Adam’s powers and life source transferred to the incapacitated elder. Adam dried out and turned to dust right before our eyes! Is this goodbye for David Anders? Man, he wasn’t really given enough scenes to shine in volume 3. It’s a shame.     NBC Photo: Adam Taylor

Meanwhile, Meredith is hostaged by Eric Doyle, a puppeteer who can control a human’s muscles and movement. Claire and her mom Sandra try to save her only to be held captive themselves. A game of Russian roulette points the gun at Claire and Sandra shoots her daughter. Eric Doyle’s mad laughter at the sight of a dead Claire was short-lived when Claire regenerated and hit the puppeteer’s head unconscious. HRG finishes the job by putting Doyle into a coma and bringing him back to Level 5.

Now for a good news and a big ‘whew’!

Heroes 3.06 "Dying of the Light" - tonight!

October 20, 2008 by Grace

Heroes episode 3.06 “Dying of the Light
Airdate: October 20, 2008, 9pm NBC

Heroes-306-dyingofthelight-03One of “Heroes” biggest twist happens tonight, when Arthur Petrelli (Robert Forster), the bedridden patient pictured, gets up and takes his place as the super villain that runs Pinehearst Industries.

The Company now has a rival in Pinehearst Industries, and its new recruits include the villains Knox, Daphne, Adam Monroe, Maury Parkman, and get this, maybe Matt Parkman and Hiro Nakamura!

Peter goes after the Industry and sees a new side to the father he thought was dead.

Spoilers:

  • DEATH: The hero - a she, who has been attached to a “former human”.
  • DEATH: The villain - he just got out of there (Level 5), and he’s also going down.
  • Claire’s special abilities have to do with grandpa and grandma Petrelli (think back to when Kaito handed baby Claire to HRG).
  • If you recall, Kaito Nakamura gave a reference to the hope of the world, the “light” that can stop the destruction. Who is, or what is the “light”?
