Spiderman splits with wife!
It’s the twist that has fans in shock!
After 21 years of marriage, Spiderman’s alter-ego Peter Parker parted ways with his wife Mary Jane Watson-Parker in the pages of the latest Marvel comic.
The split resulted from the couple’s loss of memories of their married life as part of a sick deal with villain Mephisto to restore Aunt May’s health.
To say this is unbelievable is an understatement, but Marvel Comics writers felt that Peter Parker will be a better Spiderman, and relate with the younger readers, if he were single. Now I don’t know how being married makes one less of a superhero. Parker and MJ have one of the most enduring marriage this side of the comic universe. She was his inspiration and his strength. And yes, there have been times when her presence put him in trouble and he had to rescue her, but it was that love between them that makes Spidey noble and very human.
Besides, he would be well in his forties by now. What are they going to do next, make him younger too, so he can relate with the young ‘uns?
Stan Lee married the couple in 1987, in what he said was a way to “introduce new elements to spark interest, to keep it alive”.
