SMALLVILLE 9.07 “Kandor
Airdate: November 6, 2009

SMALLVILLE This could be the episode when Clark/Kal-El finally meets his real father Jor-El! The episode summary for “Kandor” spoils that Jor-El will go back to Smallville to search for his son.

JOR-EL APPEARS IN SMALLVILLE — Jor-El (guest star Julian Sands) mysteriously arrives at the Kent farm searching for his son, Kal-El, but meets Chloe (Allison Mack) instead.  Convinced the Blur is Jor-El, Zod (Callum Blue) enlists Tess’ (Cassidy Freeman) help in finding him to force him to reveal the secret to his powers.  Clark (Tom Welling) realizes Jor-El is alive and on Earth and races to find him before Zod does. Erica Durance and Justin Hartley also star.  Jeannot Szwarc directed the episode written by Turi Meyer & Al Septien

So judging from this small snippet of spoiler, Jor-El had already sent Kal-El to earth, and so by this time Krypton was already destroyed. It would be great to have father and son meet face-to-face. I think a meeting like that would help Clark embrace his true identity and accept what his father has been teaching him all along.

I wonder what kind of person Jor-El is portrayed. We’ve become so familiar with his voice in the Fortress and somehow know him to be a hard man, and Clark has only reluctantly submitted/obeyed his father because of his destiny, and yet there really is no father-son affection between them. Clark calls him “Jor-El” instead of Dad so that tells you a lot about Clark’s feeling toward his bio-father.

I hope this episode improves that relationship a little bit.
