‘Metallo’ Arrives in Vancouver for Smallville

Brian Austin Green is now in Vancouver and filming his role as the newest villain on Smallville!

Green is cast as John Corben aka Metallo, a DC Comics cyborg supervillain who is powered by kryptonite, no less. In DC-lore, John Corben was a journalist and thief on the side, who committed the perfect murder until he fled from the scene of the crime. Corben got into a near-fatal accident that crushed his body beyond recognition. A scientist saved the villain by transplanting his brains into a kryptonite-powered robot with flesh-like artificial skin (think Terminator)!

As the comics goes, Corben gets a job at the Daily Planet where he hooks up with Lois Lane, while going against the one person – Superman – who can expose his criminal mind. And in DC-lore, a villain rarely dies. So even as the first version of Metallo supposedly ran out of kryptonite fuel and died, he resurrected in later versions to cause havoc for Superman and other supers.

Following the original version, Smallville will introduce John Corben as a journalist who replacing an MIA Clark Kent at the Daily Planet. And, we will see Brian AG at the season 9 premiere episode too. We should expect to see John Corben as Metallo, if Smallville sticks to the lore, but with a classic Smallville twist thrown in.

And just this week, Brian Austin Green arrived in Vancouver to start his transformation into John Corben/Metallo!
