Kristin Kreuk finally speaks up about her future at Smallville season 8. This is her letter to fans via her Facebook profile -
Hey Team…
So, I thought I would give those of you curious about Smallville a brief debrief. I am in Bangkok for a few more months. So, no shooting of the Ville for me. I will return for a undetermined, although small, number of episodes in season 8.
I am not really opening up the floor for lots of discussion, because it is not really the place for it. Obviously I have loved my time on the show, but I am equally as thrilled to move on to new endeavors. One of which is very dear to me, and that is GBD [Girls By Design]. So thank you all for your really fabulous support and passion!!! I hope this clears up most of the questions…

True-blue Kristin Kreuk fans will support her decision all the way. Hard-core Smallville fans will care more about what’s good for the show. But die-hard Clana fans won’t take this sitting down.

I have to agree with ya!! Smallville gets boring evrey year Lana Lanf still on the show so I´m certain she will not be missed by anyone… hope she does great in aonther project!
Lana pretty much ruined Superman and Smallville. She should have been let go ages ago and the show would have been much better without her dragging it down into become the “Lana Lang and the Men Who Love Her” Show.
I wish she’d die horribly, personally. It’s overdue for all the fans that suffered through her agonising presence for too many seasons now

Well, I think lana’s character in smallville is great…this is smallville anyway…the superboy’s early life…i just dont think its a good idea that lana lang won’t be coming back at the show…
OKAY WELL I HATED HOW VERITAS ENDED AND REALLY SAD THAT KRISTIN KREUK LAST EPISODE. YEAH EVERYONE THINK SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN GONE ALONG TIME AGO, BUT COME ON THAT’S WHAT MADE SMALLVILLE IN THE BEGINNING. BUT I THINK YOU GUY’S ARE THROWING THE TELL IN TOO EARLY FOR HER CAUSE SHE WILL BE BACK AND I BET SHE WILL BE IN THE LAST EPISODE OF SEASON 8 WITH CLARK NOT LOIS. IF THAT HAPPENS IT WILL BE A GOOD END TO A GREAT SHOW WITH TWO GORGEOUS PEOPLE THAT I LOVED TO WATCH.
this show isn’t about lois, clark or lana it’s about clark as superman.
and if you guys saw the original superman lois was his actual love interest from the beginning so if there was something that was suppose to happen between clark and lois it should have been from the beginning from the series and not the end. in superman there was no lana lang at all. so i think writers where just trying to make something new besides the same sad charaters.
I think that SMALLVILLE without Kristin,who played Lana,will be borring.In some episodes Lana was so stupid and she makeing me nervous,but SMALLVILLE without her will be more than borring.But,I didn’t create tv show SMALLVILLE.That were done Alfred Cough and Miles Millar and for everything what we dislike in that show we must blameing them.

This show is about about Clark, Lex, and Lana. I adore the chemistry between all three of these actors. They are what catapulted this show to the top of the TV universe. They also had help from Chloe. She is the whip cream on top of a fabulous Smallville sundae.
Lana is desperately needed as a catalyst on this show. Without her it is the same old story we’ve heard too many times about Lois and Clark. Lois is outdated. She stood out in a time when she was bucking a system of tradition now that most of this generation is doing the same there is nothing very special about her. She is just like everyone else going against traditional roles. She no longer stands out.
It is now Lana who stands out in these modern times. She is the one that doesn’t seem like everyone else. She is the one willing to be vulnerable like a rose in a cement garden. She is not afraid to show her feelings openly when this is definately against the cynical norm. Lana’s vulnerability is the perfect foil for the man of steel’s invulnerability.
Lois is actually quite shallow and self-absorbed most of the time. She is much better as Clarks friend than a love interest because everytime she comes near him romantically it is like romantic kryptonite that destroys chemistry on contact. Lana treats Clark like a man, Lois is so dismisssive it is painful to watch Clark’s masculinity diminished at every turn. Lois is a wet blanket in the romance department. Her lack of appreciation for Clark has sealed her fate.
Lois hardly seems affected by Clark. At this late date suddenly noticing Clark as a man would seem fake and contrived. Lois trashing Clark as a man has gone on too long.
Lana never does this, she accentuates Clarks heroic masculine strength. Lana is affected by Clark just as he is affected by her that is why they belong together. For these reasons Lana and Clark are a must better pair than Lois and Clark will ever be in the Smallville universe.
well guys ! I´m not a great fan of Lana Lang but I have to admit that her departure from the show was vary badly done…. I mean, what about that video??? for the whole seven seasons the Clana couple fought hardly to stick together and suddenly she gave up of him?!! sorry but I didn´t buy it! the new exec producers aren´t going well!!!!

I think it’s bittersweet… To see a character from the beginning of Smallville leave…….. And to everyone who says Lois and Clark should happen next season, it shouldn’t……. Maybe they should show more care for one another, but they shouldn’t be together…. Clark’s early years is about finding identity, and along with that his first gr8 love was Lana….. He still cares for her when he gets older, but just not the same way…. Anyway this story is about Clark before Superman, so if you guys want Lois and Clark to happen, watch the adventures of Lois and Clark on dvd!! Don’t ask for something that you’ll never get……….. Lana and Clark now realize that it wasn’t meant to be… at least on Lana’s behalf………. I will miss her!!

We all know the original story line, but to me the whole point to the series is the struggle against all obstacles for Clark and Lana to get together.
The series seems pointless if it doesn’t wrap up with Clark and Lana together (regardless of ‘future history’) Having Lana give up or Clark accept her departure makes no sense and is poor character writing. If this turns out to be the case, I’ll never go back to the DVDs, and I’m not buying more until I see how this is going to play out.
Yup, Clark and Lana belong together. I shall not be watching another Smallville show if they don’t stay together. Smallville without Lana loses its charm.

I started off hoping she’d be good. But the more I watch of her, the more I wish to kill myself. She’s just so disgusting. Feeling like kicking her face each time see speaks in that disgusting voice. Always terrible in the plot! sorry guys, but I loved each moment when she wasnt on the screen.
If anybody is sick of Lana……please watch the adventures of Lois and Clark as they both get married in the end…..This is smallville his love for Lana not LOIS. Clark has been in love with her all his life. I think Lana is toooooo good and beautiful for him after all the years of lies and deception that finally drove her to marry Lex……Come on Lana fans please save our golden girl……
OMG! I really don’t want her to leave! Even if she does, I do hope that her and Clark will end up together anyway in like the last episode of something! I love Clana too much for her to leave just yet!

I watched Smallville from the very beginning. Smallville is about Clark and Lana, they are the soul of the series. It is really terrible to treat the viewers this way. To set up the drama for 7 years and then have it transition to Lois and Clark. I have so much invested and now it has come to this ending. This is just awful. I am not watching this show ever again. My heart is broken

You know i own every season of smallville, Kristen has had alot of time and experience on the show. Yes i will miss watching her on the show, but if a fan really really misses her. Go back and watch the previous shows. or do like i do, start from the beginning, just in case i missed something. She is makingup her mind, and if she does come back for a couple of more shows then that will be great. But people. The real story now, Is Clark & Lois, the story is moving so quickly , that we got to keep with it. Kristen Kreuk you will be missed, And I am sure the fans will support your decision. Over all, smallville is a big show, and Kristen has been in the show from the start & 7 seasons. so you cannot blame her if shes ready to step down. because she is stepping down from being the first lady, and now soon lois lane will soon take that part. One more question, will we ever see Martha Kent in Smallville again?? Like how about Chloe’s Wedding, ??? Dont you think she would be invited???
I never thought that lana lang would ever not be in smallville but the show is full of surprises. its time for clark and lois to be together. i’m glad that allison mack has stayed with the show though. smallville has been my favourite show for a long long time now and even without kristin kreuk i’d like to see it continue.
No way, its time Kristin got a power of her own, besides the power she has over us. We want to see Kristin in every episode. Smallville is my number 1 show, and mostly only because of Kristin. Coming in at a close second is Roswell. Needless to say, we will miss you.
Smallville is about Lana-Clark-Lex. The ratings have helped this show stayed on the air for 7 years. Lana is a huge part of that long duration. No Lana, sorry I am done. What a horrible way to end the show after 7 years just to have Lana disappear. Lois is not the right actress for Smallville. Lana and Clark= chemistry and ratings
Hi guys yr all entitled to your own opinions. Personally, I think Lana has been extremely good for the show and the way her character has changed throughout the show is brilliant and I think it all depends now on how the writers link the end of Smallville to Superman. As for Lana’s role I think she had been brilliant for the show and much better than the usual Lanas in the films.

Actually, I caught a small part of a Superman movie the other day and there was a Lana Lane character in it, and it was played by a young, lovely Annette O’Toole!
Who said that Lois and Clark become wife and husband in Superman? I saw all superman movies (Christopher Reeves) but in the end they didn’t get married. So that means superman might be alone or Lana and Clark together again…Who knows. Honestly speaking i would love that Lana and Clark will be together till the end of smallville.

They got married in the comics AND in Lois & Clatrk TV show from the 90´s! Check it out and you´ll understand why there´s no Superman without Lois Lane. They were meant to be together FOREVER!!!!!

Anyway, in my opinion the producer could change the story if she/he would like to. Obviously with the director consent. Pity because Kristin could be played the role of Lois Lane instead of Lana Lang just to be the leading lady of superman.

All we have to do is writing a chain letter so everybody can read and sign it. Surely it will reach the Smallville series too. This version of Smallville is a modern age story because there are silver age and golden age of superman too. In the modern age they changed a lot of things like Lana got married to Lex instead of Pete Ross etc. So i guess they can also change the story of Clark and Lana if they would like to.

I think, the problem is that scriptwriter could not convince thier fan to love Lois(Erica Durance) like Teri Hatcher . Clark & Lana character in Kristen version was too sweet to easily destroyed,the same as Lois&Clark ( version Teri Hatcher).Erica Durance was stolen her scenne every time when Kara (Laura Vandervoort)has shown. The screenwriter has hard work, if they need rating, to setup Lois(Erica Durance) character to be more attractive & passionate as Kristen & Teri.
I was bumbed out when I heard that there wasnt going to be anymore Lana Lang. I love her character she always loved clark but it is ok cause it is supposed to be Clark and Lois. I understand that she has to move on to another movie/show and i respect her decission on that, someones career cannot be devoted on one show. I am hoping to see her in season 9 again, though. Although she is doing another show, I dont see why she cant make an appearance in atleast 1-3 shows in one season. It would be cool to see in smallville what (supergirl) Lana Lang is doing with her powers. Even if it isnt Clark seeing her, some people would love to see her atleast one more time before Smallville stops forever.
Rather fed up with the Lana character and that EVERY man in the show adores her. Gets a bit sickening after a whle. I think Chloe is very under-rated by the show and would love to see Clark discover what a wonderful girl she is. Lana and the constant problem of her and Lex and Clark wanting to tell her about himself but too frightened to has been beated to death over the last few series. I am watching the show on DVDs as I never saw the TV Show and I am enjoying it. Lex is Zod so I have a fair way to go yet to catch up with everyone. Tom Welling is quite beautiful and a good actor but I am really amazed by the actor who plays Lex who is totally different in person. I find his sense of humour hysterical!! Do not understand why Tom Welling is so secretive about his life as normally a TV actor will give interviews about his family life, his home etc to publicise himself. I only know Tom from Smallville but have read very little about him as a person. Not crazy on the actress who plays Lois, she seems to spend her whole life putting Clark down and I cannot imagine a romance between the two.

I think they should have done some sort of a spin-off where lana lang was still the main love interest in clarks life. if you ask me lois is actor but she needs to get rid of those wrinkles around her face if she wants to keep it up unlike my neutragena girl lana. also the writers are so dumb to finally switch clarks main love interest in the 8th season are you serious? I mean this show has what another good 2 years if that. My point there is no one hotter or that could replace LANA LANG AKA KRISTEN KREUK!! muah.
