Now I remember why I hate watching Smallville’s season enders. They are so tragic!
OK before I say anything else, you really must watch the finale, before reading on, since we’re going to talk spoilers here. We’d love to read your comments too, especially since something very unexpected happens in this final episode of season 8.
So… ready? Let’s talk about what (and who) went down.

First it was cool to see cameos from both Legionnaire and League, but they aren’t here for a party.

Cosmic Boy Rokk Krinn travels from the future to warn Clark that saving Chloe’s life changed the future completely. My guess is he’s living an alternate reality now that Chloe is alive when she should have died with Brainiac. Saving Chloe made things worse for the future – Doomsday is even more invulnerable, and Clark is dead. Or will die in the immediate future, like, uhm… tomorrow. Thanks for the warning, dude!

Maybe the Legionnaires believe Clark can still change the future, even though Cosmic Boy himself said “there is nothing now that will stop Doomsday from killing Clark”… else why warn the guy that he’s about to get axed, and was long dead as far as the Legionnaires are concerned. Rokk gives Clark another time-travel ring to send Doomsday to the future where Legionnaires can defeat him. But of course, Clark wants to take care of it himself.

So the next day at the Daily Planet, a melancholic Clark Kent writes his farewell note to the world. In walks Lois demanding why Clark is not looking for Chloe! She gets curious about what Clark’s doing so she sneaks to peek at the monitor and then yaks about Clark shutting himself away in his fortress. She really knows how to get under his skin, doesn’t she? I guess that’s part of the chemistry/tension between Clark and Lois. Clark swooshes away and as The Red-Blue Blur, calls Lois to appease her. He asks her to publish his farewell letter if anything happens to him. Lois asks that she must see him, and for him to meet her in a phone booth downtown. In that classic moment, Lois broke through the “impenetrable fortress” and she didn’t even realize it.

Meanwhile, Chloe and Davis are having their own nostalgic moment star-gazing in Edge City. As long as Chloe stays with Davis every second, they can probably afford to relax a little. Well, only a little, because Tess’ team has them on GPS.

At the Kent farm, Clark has called Dinah Lance (Black Canary) and Bart Allen (Impulse) to ask them for their help in trapping Doomsday miles under the Luthor. Oliver arrives and challenges Clark if he was willing to put more people in danger in case his plan fails. As Bart and Dinah are totally clueless about the tension between Clark and Oliver, Clark lets on that Oliver killed Lex Luthor and kicks him off their team! Wow, when did their roles reverse? Isn’t Green Arrow the headman here? I wonder if Smallville is painting a background for the animated Justice League about why Green Arrow has never warmed up the JLA. To say that this version of Clark and Oliver don’t see eye-to-eye is putting it mildly!

So, Green Arrow goes on his own and asks Jimmy to sneak into Tess Mercer’s computers. The photog goes to the Planet and of course, finds Lois already poking around. Tess’ encrypted files show where Chloe and Davis are hiding so Jimmy goes after them but a video then opens to reveal what Tess’ real plans are for “The Traveler” and Doomsday, and Lois saw it all.

Now at Tess Mercer’s office, someone with super-strength steals her Orb and she suspects it’s the nosy Miss Lane. Girl fight commences with some butt-kicking moves from both girls! I just wonder why Smallville does this only with their female characters… it’s always a lame match with the boys. The match “Lana vs. Tess” still wins hands down, but “Lois vs. Tess” isn’t so bad either, because bad-girl Tess gets knocked out! Oh, but a strange ring rolls out of Clark’s desk in the middle of the scuffle. And when Lois touched it, she vanished! Teleported! Time-traveled to some unknown time and place!

So where are we? Oh, Chloe and Davis get ambushed in Edge City and Clark gets there too late, to find Impulse and Canary behind it. Unfortunately, it’s Clark’s own ambush too. Oliver downs Clark with a kryptonite dart, and Canary apologizes that they can’t afford to lose Clark so they’re doing away with Davis before be turns into Doomsday. Finally, Jimmy gets to Edge City too, and finds a very weak Clark who asks his friend to pull the dart out. And then it all made sense in Jimmy’s eyes when Clark instantly heals and gets stronger! Wide-eyed, Jimmy finally meets the Red-Blue-Blur.

Chloe and an unconscious Davis are taken at a warehouse, where Oliver plan to kill Doomsday’s alter-ego. Davis was still unconscious when Chloe wakes up to plead for his life. Well, they should have killed Davis while he was knocked out! Because when he did, there was very little time except for Davis to agree with their plan since Doomsday is really beyond his, or Chloe’s soothing, control. Before Oliver can shoot him dead, Chloe gets hold of the black Kryptonite and separates Davis from the beast! And that was a very stupid thing to do, without Clark around! Now the monster is unleashed and wreaking havoc everywhere. Clark can barely do anything except be a ragdoll around Doomsday, but he musters all his foot power and flies/jumps with Doomsday into the Luthorcorp Geo Plant. BOOM!

On previous instructions from Clark, Jimmy brings Chloe and Davis to recover at this renovated tower, which turns out to be Jimmy’s wedding gift to Chloe! AWWW. It’s an old tower that overlooks that city, and that can be seen anywhere in Metropolis. This way, Chloe will always know he’s watching over her. Another awwww… Now that Jimmy confesses he knows Clark’s secret and he understands everything that Chloe did, the couple forgive each other and kiss. And then tragedy strikes again. Davis stabs Jimmy with a pipe, over-jealous with rage that Chloe lied to him all this time! She wasn’t in love with him after all, but only wanted to protect Clark. The “monster” is still alive after all. Davis is just about to kill Chloe when Jimmy rams Davis into a protruding metal. Jimmy Olsen dies in Chloe’s arms.

And we really need to pause here. Take a deep breath. And be stunned.

Jimmy Olsen died?! Smallville is messing with us, right? Jimmy Olsen can not die! He’s mythos…. Well, this Jimmy sure ain’t.

At Jimmy’s funeral, a widowed Chloe meets his father and younger brother for the first time. Oliver sheds a single tear. Lois and Clark are still missing. Chloe hands over Jimmy’s camera to the young kid and tells him she believes Jimmy would want him to have that…. So now it makes sense. Older Jimmy is Henry James Olsen. The younger brother, with his bowtie, must be the real Jimmy Olsen, and grow up to be known as the Jimmy Olsen who will work with an older Clark Kent.

A distraught Clark goes to Chloe’s new house and tells her to get rid of it. He blames himself for Jimmy’s death. Actually he blames his humanity for being so attached to humans that it cost him a friend’s life. He had forgotten that he is an alien after all. Chloe tells Clark it’s his humanity that makes him a hero, but that doesn’t move Clark. He vows that Clark Kent is dead, walks out of the room and vanishes into thin air.

But that’s not the end yet…

Tess is back at her mansion, and she wakes up to the Orb calling out to her. She rushes to where the light is coming from and sees a man! A letter “Z” is etched on the ground.

Zod.

We know since March that two characters are going to die this season’s end… Who of the following from above could they be? Eenie-minnie-mynie-moe…

But before we sound off, let’s see how they could possibly go down.

Clark will finally get to fight Doomsday, or is it that Doomsday will be throwing Clark around like a rag doll! The trailer sneaks that Clark will seem to have lost his powers! Man, that would just suck for the superman. How many before has Clark’s powers fail him just when he really needs it? Of course, Chloe has almost always been there to save her friend, so will she do it again this time? No doubt her loyalty lies with Clark, so maybe the love-struck Davis won’t like that at all.

Oh but there’s the warning from a Legionnaire that Clark is going to die! Major ‘uh-oh’.

And in the girl version of the fight camp, Tess and Lois are going to go at it too! It seems to have to do with an orb that Lois got hold of. And we know how possessive Tess can be about Veritas souvenirs.

Well, here are more spoilers from Kryptonsite and Spoilerfix… I can’t wait for Thursday! This is gonna be great!

The promo trailer seems to be showing that Davis is going to be rid of Doomsday through the black kryptonite!

Two characters are definitely going to die in this finale! And it could be Chloe, Davis, or someone else entirely.

There are going to be some major “quintessential” Clark and Lois moments by season’s end.

A special guest appearing in the final episode will return next season to cause big problems!

According to Erica Durance the final episode will be “heartbreaking, surprising… and magical”

Cassidy Freeman says Tess wants Clark to fight Doomsday because to her, that’s the only way he can become Superman.

We heard Oliver push Clark many times to take up the mantle, and Clark always disappointed him.

Well, it looks like Oliver has had enough. If Clark can’t or won’t do it, then he will. Oliver got Lex killed, didn’t he, when Clark won’t lay a hand. And now there’s Doomsday that Clark is so worried about not killing that it must piss a hero like Green Arrow!

So, for the season finale this Thursday, Oliver is charging his Justice League to step in and take over. But first they have to get rid of Clark!

Get a hold of the promo pictures and see Black Canary, Impulse and Green Arrow take down Clark Kent. But how in the world did they do that?! Clark Kent is supposed to be invincible!

Now, what is Jimmy doing in the area? And is that a Kryptonite-laced arrow?

What is Oliver up to now?

From the season finale (Doomsday) trailer, it looks like Clark needs some serious help! Oliver really wants Davis Bloom dead, and will stop at nothing to kill the monster. And Cosmic Boy Rokk warns Clark that “tomorrow is your day to die”!!! Chloe’s going to intervene too, and if you look closely at the trailer, you’ll see that she might have separated Davis from his alter-ego Doomsday, all to save Clark, which Davis does not like at all!

Of course we know that Clark is not going to die… right? He’s coming back for season 9 after all. But it’s still a suspense to know how Clark is going to defeat Doomsday, if ever Davis falls at Clark’s hands. Somehow, I doubt that he’s going to get his hands stained with blood, but you never know how.

But we did get warning that someone is going to die by season’s end, so we’re back to guessing between Davis and Chloe. I really hate to lose either of the actors to the chopping block! Both Allison Mack and Sam Witwer have been exceptional, and it would be a waste to see them go…

Looks like there’s plenty of fighting and infighting on Smallville’s season finale! The season is finally reaching its climax and now, the big question on our minds is – will Clark defeat Doomsday?
Of course we know whatever kind of sparring the immortal enemies have will be just that – sparring session for the real fight later on, but still the producers can’t end the season without Clark and Davis/Doomsday packing punches!

And the episode description for the episode “Doomsday” exactly says that Clark and Doomsday are facing off! Not only that, Lois and Tess take it out on each other too!

Here’s the summary from CW –

CLARK AND DOOMSDAY FACE OFF — Oliver (Justin Hartley) tells Clark (Tom Welling) he must kill Davis (Sam Witwer), as Doomsday is a serious threat and must be stopped at all costs. However, Clark struggles with taking a human life, so the Green Arrow and his team decide to take matters into their own hands. Lois (Erica Durance) takes on Tess (Cassidy Freeman), but the fight takes a shocking turn. Meanwhile, Chloe (Allison Mack) gets caught in the middle of Oliver and Clark’s battle over killing Davis. Aaron Ashmore also stars. James Marshall directed the episode written by Brian Peterson & Kelly Souders

Here’s the director’s cut for tonight’s episode in Smallville, “Injustice”, and unfortunately, it’s the same scene as the webclip. It shows Chloe being chased by a monster, or what sounds like Doomsday, through a forest and she calls out Clark’s name.

The friendship between Clark and Chloe is really interesting isn’t it? She calls for him and he’ll come running to her rescue. This episode is the last one before the finale for season 8, and I keep wondering who’s gonna fall. There’s always someone from Smallville who either dies or gets terribly hurt by season’s end.

Early in March it was spoiled that a vet and a newcomer are going to die. Later on, it’s that someone will leave and another dies. Speculations, anyone? If we’re to look at the greater Superman mythos, then Chloe must die, huh… and maybe Davis leaves? Or Tess Mercer?

Well, tonight might be a clue… or not… anyhow, here are some more info about episode “Injustice”. Enjoy the spoilers before the big show tonight!

CW released promo images for the Smallville episode Injustice, and it looks like Tess Mercer is in trouble!
I wonder what the scene before it was. Was Doomsday chasing Chloe, and about to kill her? Or was that an effect that one of the meteor-freaks did to make Chloe think she’s being chased? Whatever the case, the meteor-freaks used this to bring Clark to Chloe, and perhaps get him to fight Doomsday.

In the episode where Plastique first appeared, Chloe had been there for her and befriended her. But the girl thought that Chloe betrayed her. I wonder if Plastique thinks of this as payback, or did Tess Mercer seriously brainwash them all to do her bidding?

We all think of Clark as a man of integrity and principle, right. He’s sworn never to kill anyone, to give someone a second chance or the benefit of the doubt. In his mind, saving someone means pointing them to the light. That’s why Doomsday is still alive.
But Oliver told Clark how stupid he thinks this principle is, and especially now that Chloe has disappeared with Davis.

Now, the world is still unsafe and at risk because Clark would not get rid of Davis… well, Clark almost did, until Chloe stopped him, which didn’t make sense to me. Didn’t Clark banish Davis’ mom back to the Phantom Zone?

Here’s the trailer for the Smallville episode “Injustice”, but I admit it’s a little confusing. I can’t seem to make out what this trailer wants to show.

Last week, Davis thought that being around Chloe would keep the inner-demon under control. So the new couple decided to disappear in hopes that Smallville will be safe, and in Chloe’s mind – that Clark won’t have blood in his hands from killing Davis.
Unfortunately, that wish won’t last long. CW released the episode description for “Injustice” –

Chloe (Allison Mack) returns and begs Clark (Tom Welling) to kill Davis (Sam Witwer), claiming he can no longer keep the beast under control. Tess (Cassidy Freeman) has assembled a team of meteor freaks, including Plastique (guest star Jessica Parker Kennedy), to track down Davis so Clark can kill him. However, things get out of hand once Tess’ team discovers she is double-crossing them. Erica Durance, Aaron Ashmore and Justin Hartley also star. Mairzee Almas directed the episode written by Al Septian & Turi Meyer

So Tess Mercer interferes with Clark’s destiny, much like her predecessor Lex did. She believes that having a supervillain will push Clark to become a superhero. I guess it is so easy become obsessed with ‘pushing’ the superhero out of Clark, huh. Some, like Chloe want Clark’s hands to be kept clean, because he’s the people’s hero. Oliver is baffled, and probably thinks Clark a coward, because his friend can’t get past being a saint.

So Plastique comes back! Tess Mercer was successful creating her own team of anti-heroes. I wonder how she brainwashed them, but it looks like Tess’ plans are going to backfire. I’m not going to be sorry if that happens. Tess’ ways are no way to make Clark become superman!
