]]> Is it really happening?

It’s rumored (”sources say”) that “Spiderman” will have its sequels, and director Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire are both in it. On the otherhand, Kirsten Dunst won’t be returning, although her character will.

So, we’ll have “Spiderman 4″ around May, 2011… and wait… Spiderman 5 too?! Cinematical reported that a two-part script is in the works.

According to Superhero Hype, nothing’s set and we’ll have to wait for Fox to announce officially. Fingers crossed!

]]> What do you think of this, Spidey-fans?

spiderman-musical A Broadway production of Spiderman… yeah, it’s a musical! You know, with singing, dancing and acting in between. Some web-slinging and acrobatics maybe? Hey, I love Broadway shows, but, I can not, for the life of me, picture a superhero musical! OK, so there was a Superman musical eons ago, but… see, did you think it was cool?

But then again, maybe Marvel Studios can pull this off. After all, it’s directed by Tony-awardee Julie Taymor (”The Lion King”). And latest news has it that Jim Sturgess is Peter Parker/Spiderman and Evan Rachel Wood is Mary Jane Watson, who are both powerful performers. Plus, U2’s Bono and the Edge are behind the music and lyrics to give it a rock opera appeal.

Maybe it will work… now if the chorus girls breaks out singing the Spiderman jingle –

Spider-man, Spider-man,
Does whatever a spider can,
Spins a web, any size,
Catches thieves, just like flies,
Look Out! Here comes the Spider-man.

The audience just might join in!

After 21 years of marriage, Spiderman’s alter-ego Peter Parker parted ways with his wife Mary Jane Watson-Parker in the pages of the latest Marvel comic.

The split resulted from the couple’s loss of memories of their married life as part of a sick deal with villain Mephisto to restore Aunt May’s health.

To say this is unbelievable is an understatement, but Marvel Comics writers felt that Peter Parker will be a better Spiderman, and relate with the younger readers, if he were single. Now I don’t know how being married makes one less of a superhero. Parker and MJ have one of the most enduring marriage this side of the comic universe. She was his inspiration and his strength. And yes, there have been times when her presence put him in trouble and he had to rescue her, but it was that love between them that makes Spidey noble and very human.

Besides, he would be well in his forties by now. What are they going to do next, make him younger too, so he can relate with the young ‘uns?

Stan Lee married the couple in 1987, in what he said was a way to “introduce new elements to spark interest, to keep it alive”.

]]> There is a Spiderman-4 installment!

And it will be written by James Vandervilt, chosen by Sony because of his character-driven approach. Vandervilt’s resume include writing the X-Men Origins:Wolverine, Zodiac, Basic and Darkness Falls.

Laura Ziskin is also returning as the producer but there is no word if director Sam Raimi or stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst are returning.

]]> Spiderman-3 hit the Philippine cinemas on May 1st!

It’s three days before the US (I envy you!) which is slated for May 4, Friday.

So all you lucky people – DID YOU LIKE SPIDERMAN-3?

Oooh, let me know. I’m so open to spoilers!

It looks like Philippine cinemas are selling out of tickets already! I’d say that’s true for Japan and other major Asian cities.

All of our cinemas that are showing ‘Spider-Man 3′ are sold out,” said May Felipe, manager of the theatres at the “Market! Market!” mall in suburban Manila where five of the seven screens are showing the movie.

People were even willing to stand throughout the movie when there were no longer any seats available, Felipe said.

“All tickets are sold out. It is amazing,” said Henry Balingit, advertising official of the Power Plant mall where five of six theaters are showing ‘Spider-Man 3.’

Through a downpour of rain on Monday April 16, Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire walked the red carpet amidst cheers of fans for the premiere of Spiderman-3 at a ritzy Tokyo arena.

The latest film of the Spiderman trilogy, directed by Sam Raimi, centers on Peter’s soul-searching as he learns that his grandfather’s killer has escaped. On top of that, Kristin Dunst adds-

“Obviously Peter Parker and Mary Jane’s relationship has just grown deeper and so there’s a lot of emotion in this film.”

He also faces three four formidable enemies – his dark side, old friend-turned nemesis Harry Osborn (James Franco), and new villains Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) and Venom (Topher Grace).

He has been a vegetarian for fourteen years, and “close be becoming a vegan”.

He abstains from eggs, cheese and milk.

He recently ordered a non-leather interior for his new car, and buys shoes “made from canvas and stuff like that” that is.. non-animal products.

He’s never had any desire to eat meat, even as a kid.
