“Iron Man 2” goes into post-production

It may still be a year before we see the sequel of “Iron Man” in theaters, but already there’s a big buzz about the return of Robert Downey Jr. in IRON MAN 2.

The return of Iron Man is featured as the cover of Entertainment Weekly, with Robert Downey Jr. in the upgraded version of his suit, along with the new villains Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Mickey Rourke. (Whiplash). Interesting enough, the Black Widow starts out as Stark’s new assistant Natasha, who replaced Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) when she was promoted to CEO of Stark Industries. And yea.. there’s a “weird male catfight fantasy” Paltrow tells EW. Check out the EW cover on newstands this week, and more exclusive bits at the SDCC…. this year, everything happens at SDCC…

Just today, IRON MAN 2 wrapped up its principal photography and the cast and crew say “sayonara” for a while… well, while the rest of Jon Favreau’s team work on post-production. Like I say often these days, we will likely get more scoop from SDCC later, so stay tuned.

IRON MAN 2 is scheduled for theaters on May 7, 2010.

“Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen” promo images

“Transformers” returns with a vengeance, a resurrected Megatron and an organic female robot! The sequel titled, “Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen” maps out the plot for the viewers: the Decepticons® come back to wreak havoc on earth. Just what makes them come back?

Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf). Again. College-freshman Sam begins having visions about the Transformers’ role on earth’s first civilizations, and the Decepticons® want that information. So the battle rages on and takes a climactic turn at the Gaza Pyramids of Egypt!

The main cast returns for the sequel:

Shia LeBeouf is Sam Witwicky
Megan Fox is Mikaela Banes
Josh Duhamel as Captain William Lennox
Tyrese Gibson as Robert Epps
John Turturro is Reggie Simmons
and some sixty robots, including returning Autobots® Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet and Jetfire; and the Decepticons® headed by a more powerful Megatron, and Starscream.

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” opens on June 24 at American theaters, and June 19 in the UK. Directed by Michael Bay and produced by Stephen Spielberg, the film is given a PG Rating of 13 for “intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, language, some crude and sexual material, and brief drug material”.
