Kyle’s feeling for Amanda has grown since they first met. He is totally in love with her! Saving Amanda from Latnok has only driven him to love and protect her more, and she is the sweetest thing that has ever happened to him.

But Jessi too feels an undeniable connection with Kyle. They both ‘sense’ each other. Kyle has proven many times that he is there for her. In last week’s episode, Jessi returned the favor, and their connection grew even stronger.

But there is really only one soul mate for Kyle. Or is there?

Questions to Kyle’s existence are answered in the final episode of the season. A couple, David and Julie Peterson, claim parenthood over Kyle and the Trager family comes to terms that their adopted son/brother may not be with them for long. Amanda’s confirmation with her religion gives Kyle an idea that he too, needs a saint, to answer his question. A stranger approaches him in church and assures him that the one who created him does love him.

Kyle still isn’t convinced that the Petersons are his parents so he confronts Foss for answers. Foss finally gives Kyle clues about where he came from. “Before you woke up in the forest, for all intents and purposes, you did not exist.”

Kyle returns home and claims the Peterson are his family! So begin the farewell party of the Tragers, and everyone is distraught that Kyle is moving to Connecticut. Kyle leaves Declan some of his “stuff” which contain clues about the farce his parents have been saying. As Kyle and the Petersons drive away, he remarks how good liars they are. The couple bring Kyle to a gated mansion and he comes face to face with his “maker” – Adam Baylin!

At covert facility of Madacorp/ZyZzx, scientists are talking about Kyle being a failed experiment. There is another person labeled #781228 XX as being in excellent condition. The season ends with a close-up of a young woman suspended in a pinkish fluid inside an incubator.

The identity of the person in Kyle’s drawing is Professor Kern, who went missing a few weeks ago.

To keep himself distracted, Kyle joins the basketball team and becomes an instant hit. Declan (Chris Olivero) isn’t too happy about it and hurts his ankle when he tries to impress everyone.

Kyle is now the “go-to” man at the basketball championship. Declan hurts himself and sits out the rest of the game. When the coach insists that Declan go back in or lose his spot, Kyle and the rest of the team rally behind him. Declan and Kyle become tight friends after this.

A thunderstorm brings flashes back to Kyle’s memories, and he draws the picture of a man in a pouring rain. Declan sneaks into Kyle’s room soaking wet and spends the night there.

Nicole and Stephen show the picture of “the intruder” to security man Foss, who instantly recognizes the man as Professor Kern. Foss conjures a way to mislead the couple about the identity of the man.

The next morning is Lori’s 16th birthday and she’s feeling down. When the power goes out, the kids play an Ouija board and a set of numbers revealed themselves as Kyle’s birthdate. As they celebrate Lori’s birthday, Kyle gets sentimental and wishes that he has a birthday too. Lori gladly shares her birthday with him until they find out his own.

Kyle is the new student at school, and everything fascinates him – the students who clique, the ringing bell, and the library. Kyle miserably fails an entrance placement test. He wanders to the library and ends up skimming the entire world encyclopedia. Kyle aces the test-retake.

A bully tries to hurt Josh and Kyle overpowered the guy.

Meanwhile, Foss enters the Trager house and plants cameras everywhere. He also introduces himself to Nicole as the new personnel in charge of their alarm and neighborhood security. Unknown to Kyle, Foss is watching his every move.

Stephen brings Kyle to his office and the boy genius fixes the server that crashed. Kyle also discovers the truth about lying.

The skeletons found in the forest has a security key card with the symbol that looks like a double helix. Nicole shows Kyle the photographs but he could not remember anything or recognize them.

The next day, Kyle fixes the roof of the house and jumps all the way down to the ground. Amanda happened to pass by in her car and crashes into a trashcan when she saw what Kyle did.

A mysterious guy in a red pick-up has been eavesdropping everything when someone calls him to say they found “Kern”.

After a week at the Trager house, the family learns that Kyle (Matt Dallas) has not slept or become exhausted. Instead they find him in the kitchen sampling everything inside the refrigerators, watching Chinese movies, speaking fluent Chinese and learning karate.

The next day, Josh (Jean-Luc Bilodeau)begins his journals about Kyle being an alien.

The family makes an effort to put Kyle to exhaustion and sleep, but nothing happens. After being sleepless themselves, Stephen (Bruce Thomas) complains that Kyle is like a baby and does not belong to the family. Kyle overhears the conversation and runs away.

The family end up finding Kyle in the forest where he first woke up. Kyle reasons he is waiting for his own family to bring him home. Stephen admits that Kyle has found his family, and they take him home. Finally exhausted, Kyle understands sleep and fell asleep on the bathtub.

A naked lost teenage boy (Matt Dallas) wanders into the streets of Seattle and gets detained in a juvenile center where he first meets child psychologist Nicole Trager (Marguerite MacIntyre).

“Kyle” gets introduced to the rest of the Trager family, first to Lori, Josh, and Stephen in very interesting situations. But the funniest scene would have to be when Kyle asks for a glass of juice from Nicole.  “Yo! Let’s get some juice down here! ‘Wassup!… Juice me!”

As Kyle’s first weekend with the Tragers wears on, the family discovers they have a special person in their midst. So when Kyle pleads help from Nicole and calls her “mom”, she could not refuse. And the rest of the family followed suit as they accepted him at the dinner table.

I’m excited to tell you that Superhero Profiles will be covering the ABC Family series “Kyle XY“.

“Kyle XY” is the story of a savant teenage boy who has no memory of where he came from or who his family is. “Kyle” gets adopted by the Trager family when the mother Nicole, a child psychologist assigned to the case, gets attached to the boy. It’s revealed later that Kyle is the product of a cloning experiment to create humans with brain powers so advanced they can manipulate energy and matter around them. The family self-appoints themselves to protect Kyle from those who want to corrupt him.

I watched the DVD of both Kyle XY seasons 1 and 2 over the holidays and I thought the storyboard sounded very much like “Smallville”, except this new kid is not an alien but a genetic clone. There are familiar themes between the two shows and sometimes, a character on Kyle XY refers to the teenager as “Superman, only real.” But subtle duplications aside, what hooked me to the show was the remarkable acting of the cast. Special mention goes to Matt Dallas who plays the lead role. His portrayal of this emotionally-innocent (and I say innocent, not challenged) teenager is refreshing. Kyle’s personality is more like a young child’s extremely curious, spongelike attention to everything around him. He responds to the world without pretense and maintains a moral soundness about him. The wonder is that Matt Dallas gets it. Likewise, the rest of the cast portray their roles really well. Although definitely acting as support to the main story arc, each of the main characters (and especially the teenagers) have compelling side stories. After watching several episodes, you realize you’re watching a show aimed for the teen demographics. Most of the emotional conflicts revolve around growing up asa  teenager. Funny thing is, an adult like myself nods and thinks, “Yeah, I’ve been there. I know what that feels like.”  Totally EMO!
