There is nothing so beautiful as love between soul mates. Nothing can take them apart, no matter the distance or time. Ever since Kyle met Amanda, he has known there is no other one for him. But are they truly meant to be for each other? Will problems make them stronger or pull them apart?

Last Monday’s episode of "Kyle XY” was a test of the love between Amanda and Kyle, and Jessi stands between them.

Jessi moves in with the Tragers and everyone psyches themselves that everything is going to be OK. But Kyle walks in on Amanda while she is in the shower, and Lori realizes having Jessi around is going to be a disaster.

And Jessi proves them all… correct. She listens in on the other kids’ conversations and unintentionally rats them out to Nicole and Stephen.

Without a doubt, Jessi likes Kyle so even though she hates Amanda she ends up hanging around him a lot. And that is sour taste to Amanda’s mouth, especially since she is so stressed preparing for a pivotal piano recital that would bring her college scholarships. She is also having memory problems and her headaches get worse.

Amanda believes Jessi’s presence adds to her tension, so at first she tells Kyle to get rid of his new sidekick. And he tries. But Kyle found out that Amanda’s headaches are caused by a Latnoc device implanted in her brain, and he could not get it out without Jessi’s help.

Unfortunately, getting the neuroblocker in Amanda’s brain is trickier than he thought. How can Kyle take out the neuroblocker without harming Amanda, and without her knowing anything? Jessi’s solution is a hit – dissolve the chemical using electricity, and apply that by kissing Amanda. Easy enough, except how will Kyle know how much power to charge? So he practices on Jessi!

And in walks Amanda! She is so mad at Kyle she tells him they are over. And a heartbroken Kyle apologizes to her and kisses her right before her recital. Kyle successfully removes the device without Amanda being aware of it, and she plays her best ever at the recital. But now, Amanda and Kyle are over.

Meantime, it’s not just Amanda and Kyle that are having couple-issues. Lori and Mark have been secretly seeing each other despite Stephen’s objections. “Accidentally running in” to each other on campus has been a thrill for both of them and they are ready to take the next step. Unfortunately, Michael Cassidy of Latnoc steps in and tells Mark to stop seeing Lori. Lori is devastated but Mark really wants a future with these brilliant scientists at Latnoc.

“Electric Kiss” hints that there may yet be a chemistry between Jessi and Kyle that is under the surface. Kyle is unaware of it, because he was so focused on Amanda. But Jessi can not really hide her feelings. With Amanda out of the picture, will Jessi and Kyle have a chance?

The next episode “In the Company of Men” reveals how Kyle deals with being dumped.

Kyle has never been one to believe in the supernatural. In his mind, everything has a scientific explanation. Even the most bizarre events can be explained by science or some complex math. When Kyle encounters a psychic would predicted the future accurately, his beliefs were challenged.

Kyle had a strange nightmare about Cassidy holding Amanda hostage and Cassidy saying “it’s too late!” for Kyle. The next day at a summer street fair, Josh and Andy checked out a psychic who told Josh about a secret he was keeping. When Kyle came into the psychic’s tent, she told him that his soulmate will be in danger that night when the white rabbit swims.

Kyle became concerned for Amanda’s safety so he would not let her out of his sight. He had Jessi and Lori stick around her and that drove Amanda crazy, declaring a Kyle-free night out.

The prediction came true when Amanda and the girls went to a band concert on a boat by the river. An accident sent Jessi crashing into the water and Kyle saved her.

Was Jessi (and not Amanda) the soulmate that the psychic talked about? Who knows for now, but this might have totally worked if we didn’t find out at the end that the whole scenario was orchestrated by Cassidy. It was all a farce, and all intended to lead Kyle to believe that Jessi is his soul mate.

Whatever effect this would have on Kyle’s relationships with Jessi and Amanda is still to be seen. Maybe Cassidy was driving Kyle toward Jessi.

Meantime, Lori was still mad at Hillary over the kiss fiasco with Declan, but she was also flirting with college-boy geek Mark, who happens to be her dad’s lab assistant (and in cahoots with Cassidy). Yeah, what’s up with that? Declan told Lori at the end of the night that it is unfair of her to hold him back. Lori needs to figure out who she really likes. Is she rebounding Mark, or does she just want to be possessive of Declan. I think Declan and Hillary might have a chance together, and seeing this play out would be fun.

Questions to Kyle’s existence are answered in the final episode of the season. A couple, David and Julie Peterson, claim parenthood over Kyle and the Trager family comes to terms that their adopted son/brother may not be with them for long. Amanda’s confirmation with her religion gives Kyle an idea that he too, needs a saint, to answer his question. A stranger approaches him in church and assures him that the one who created him does love him.

Kyle still isn’t convinced that the Petersons are his parents so he confronts Foss for answers. Foss finally gives Kyle clues about where he came from. “Before you woke up in the forest, for all intents and purposes, you did not exist.”

Kyle returns home and claims the Peterson are his family! So begin the farewell party of the Tragers, and everyone is distraught that Kyle is moving to Connecticut. Kyle leaves Declan some of his “stuff” which contain clues about the farce his parents have been saying. As Kyle and the Petersons drive away, he remarks how good liars they are. The couple bring Kyle to a gated mansion and he comes face to face with his “maker” – Adam Baylin!

At covert facility of Madacorp/ZyZzx, scientists are talking about Kyle being a failed experiment. There is another person labeled #781228 XX as being in excellent condition. The season ends with a close-up of a young woman suspended in a pinkish fluid inside an incubator.

Kyle discovers a new way to use his brain power: enhanced hearing! Just concentrate well enough and tune out everything else but the sound he wants and he can hear anything, even from a distant. Kyle and Declan use this new power to eavesdrop Foss. The duo break into the apartment and find out Foss has been spying on the family all this time.

After their uncaped crusader adventure, Kyle and Declan head off to the carnival, where Kyle overhears Declan and Charlie (Amanda’s boyfriend) talking about a seeming betrayal. Foss foils an assassination attempt on Kyle, which Kyle also overhears. The stress on his brain causes the boy wonder to collapse. At the hospital, Kyle’s MRI results are perfectly normal, which puzzle Nicole at first. All of a sudden, Kyle’s “real parents” show up! He’s not Kyle, but Noah Peterson.

Kyle, Declan and Lori sneak into the University of Washington to find out more about Professor Kern. The professor’s assistant help them unravel the mystery of his death after she saw for herself what Kyle can do. At the university, Kyle sees a 1985 picture of a student who looks just like him – Adam Baylin! A secretary remembers a little about Adam and leads them to his research materials. Kyle comes across the same symbols and coordinates to a location. He investigates it with Declan when Foss stops Kyle and warns him to stop asking or else the family will get harmed.

Unknown to them all, someone was watching from a hidden camera, and refers to Kyle as “781227″ and being alive.

Kyle’s first dream is about Amanda (Kirsten Prout). He is swimming in a pool and Amanda comes to rescue him.

The next day, Josh, Lori (April Matson) and Kyle go to the pool and Kyle gets into an embarrassing situation. The next day, Amanda taught Kyle to swim.

The mysterious guy is named Thomas Foss. In Foss’ apartment, someone tries to kill him but did not succeed.

Kyle disrupts the family’s morning routine when Lori finds him still sleeping in the bathtub.

Stephen brings Kyle to his office and the boy genius fixes the server that crashed. Kyle also discovers the truth about lying.

The skeletons found in the forest has a security key card with the symbol that looks like a double helix. Nicole shows Kyle the photographs but he could not remember anything or recognize them.

The next day, Kyle fixes the roof of the house and jumps all the way down to the ground. Amanda happened to pass by in her car and crashes into a trashcan when she saw what Kyle did.

A mysterious guy in a red pick-up has been eavesdropping everything when someone calls him to say they found “Kern”.
