Other NBC shows with a green theme are "The Biggest Loser," "Mercy," "Trauma," "Law & Order: SVU," "Parks and Recreation," "The Office," "30 Rock" and "Law & Order." NBC also released that its shows will have holiday themes this winter. Hmm, the episode before holiday breaks is aptly titled 4.11 “Thanksgiving”  airing on November 23. Guest star Elizabeth Rohm (“Law & Order veteran) will come back for this episode to play her role as a former partner of H.R.G. We will first see Rohm in the coming episode “Once Upon A Time in Texas”.

Then in December, HEROES goes for a month-long break before returning on January 2010 with 4.12 “Upon This Rock” (that might have a religious meaning /holiday theme to it as well).

I wonder if having special episodes like these will have particular appeal to viewers? What do you say?

Tim Kring has always said the show is about extra-ordinary people trying to live with their powers, and in volume 5, the heroes ask the questions again –

“Who are we? What does having powers mean to the world? How should we live our lives – shameful or proud? Should we hide or live out in the open? And if the world of powers is revealed, how will the world ever recover?

As the heroes attempt to go back to living ordinary lives, they’ll find out it won’t be easy going. Like Hiro. He’ll discover he has a terminal illness and he’s going to create his own bucket-list. Oh! Hiro’s carnival scene makes complete sense now! Hiro will go back in time and re-live that childhood memory of going to the carnival and check it off his bucket list when a Carnival man entices him. At least that’s what James Kyson Less said. But I don’t understand how starting a business with best pal Ando is part of that bucket list.

There’s new cast Deanne Bray who will play Peter Petrelli’s love interest as hearing-impaired Emma. She’ll come with powers and it’s anybody’s guess what they’ll be. But it should be interesting. Will it compensate for her deafness, much like Daphne “Speedster” Brooke’s speed did for her disability?

Now here’s another interesting spoil – Mohinder discovers evidence of a new danger, and who does he call? H.R.G.!  I’m guessing the danger is a new group called the Carnival, who’s got some awesome baddies going for them. A tattooed lady who can find other supers? Another speedster with a thing for knives? And an earth-mover. Now that’s pretty neat, I think… except I think I read a vampire from Breaking Dawn has the same powers (oops… I’m spoiling another show!)

But here’s a disappointment: Ali Larter’s character(s)! Are the writers going to reinvent her character again?! I don’t think we can handle another dimension of Niki/Jessica/Tracy. Tracy’s episodes in the early days of season 3 were really great. I like that Ali got to play the ambitious power-hungry political adviser. See, why can’t they make her the female version of Sylar? In fact, it would be a trip for Sylar as Nathan to pair up with her in the Senate. Destructive!

On September 21, "Heroes" returns with its fourth season and a brand-new volume – "Redemption." As the dust settles from last season, our heroes attempt to settle back into their ordinary lives. But, as they will quickly discover, it’s not easy to go home again. They will face one pressing question: how do extraordinary people lead ordinary lives?
Previously, in "Volume 4: Fugitives," our heroes made an attempt to return to their normal lives – but that attempt was cut short when Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere) uncovered a deadly plot orchestrated by one of their own – Senator Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar). After revealing to the government that there were people with special abilities, Nathan spearheaded an initiative to capture and imprison those people and used Noah Bennet a.k.a. H.R.G. (Jack Coleman). Lives were torn apart. H.R.G.’s own marriage was destroyed. Tracy Strauss (Ali Larter) was killed — literally shattered into frozen pieces.
Ultimately, it was Nathan who paid the price for his misdeeds – murdered at the hands of Sylar (Zachary Quinto). Angela Petrelli (Cristine Rose), devastated at the loss of her son, and H.R.G., in need of an ally within the government, convinced Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) to use his ability to repair the damage. Matt used mind control and forced Sylar to shapeshift into Nathan, while erasing Sylar’s own memories so he truly believed he was Nathan. Now, as far as everyone else knows, Nathan is alive and well. And Sylar is gone. But all of that is about to change…
This season, "Volume 5: Redemption" begins with our heroes putting their lives back together.
Claire is finding that her biggest challenges are forgetting her old life and starting college. How does someone who has led such an extraordinary life assimilate back into everyday college life? Any semblance of normalcy is shortly overturned when Claire’s roommate commits suicide and Claire discovers her new friend, Gretchen (guest star Madeline Zima), is hiding a secret herself.
Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) goes back to his old life in Japan, but discovers that he has a terminal illness. When Hiro can no longer keep his illness hidden, he sets out to fulfill his own personal bucket-list – righting the mistakes of his past. But will Hiro be able to correct the errors of his ways without severely altering the past and present?
Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) returns to work as an ordinary New York City EMT, but he uses his abilities to save lives. Peter has become obsessed, looking for redemption and shutting out the rest of the world he once knew. How can he forget the past and begin anew? Peter’s life will quickly change when a hearing impaired woman, Emma (guest star Deanne Bray), enters his life. Emma has used her disability as an excuse to shut herself off from the world. But as a new and unique ability manifests, the shell she’s built around herself will begin to crack apart – as will Peter’s.
H.R.G. is adjusting to life as a single man. Charged with creating a new company, he is rapidly discovering that he needs more from his life. But how does a company man become ordinary? And, when Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) returns and offers H.R.G. compelling evidence of a new danger, it makes H.R.G. wonder if he should get back in the game.
Tracy Strauss, having risen from the dead, is consumed with seeking vengeance, but soon realizes that she has a real opportunity to reinvent herself. The question is: who should she be?
Nathan Petrelli, not realizing who he really is, returns to the Senate and begins to notice strange changes in himself. Most alarming, Nathan discovers that he has new abilities. These changes are not lost on Angela, who recognizes them for what they truly are – the emergence of Sylar.
Meanwhile, racked by the guilt of what he did to Sylar and Nathan, Matt Parkman returns to life as an ordinary family man. All he wants to do is to raise his son, love his wife and return to a fulfilling career as an LAPD detective. But what Matt doesn’t know is that something unfamiliar is buried deep within his psyche – Matt can see and hear Sylar. And this specter will haunt him until Sylar is returned to his body.
The biggest challenge for our heroes is a strange and dangerous carnival comprised of a traveling band of outsiders with powerful abilities, led by a charismatic and powerful leader, Samuel (Robert Knepper). Alongside Samuel is his right hand man, Edgar (guest star Ray Park), a deadly Speedster with a talent for knives, and Lydia (guest star Dawn Olivieri) the Tattooed Lady.
Samuel leads his flock to intersect with the lives of all of our heroes. He will find them, and he will entice them to join him. And together, they will ask the same basic questions: Who are we? “Heroes is moving up an hour earlier – from 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will run for only 19 episodes in the fall. “Heroes” finishes right before the Winter Olympics, and then, “Chuck” will take over midseason in the same time slot. “Chuck” was saved by a sponsorship from Subway, which was became part of the fans’ ‘Save Chuck’ campaign.

But, in a shock to viewers and producers, both “Medium” and “My Name is Earl” get cancelled!

“Heroes” moves aside to let the new medical action-drama series “Trauma” take over its primetime schedule. Later in the midseason, the apocalyptic thriller “Day One” will replace “Trauma”.

NBC has had sinking ratings in the past three years, and a daily 10 p.m. slot by “Jay Leno Show” hopefully will improve the peacock network’s standing. Unfortunately, the daily nighttime comedy means there’s going to be a tighter schedule, and some shows were cut from the line. Most surprising is “Medium” and “My Name is Earl”!

I thought “Medium” and “Earl” had good following too, but apparently NBC co-chair Ben Silverman thought the shows had “an aging franchise, without a single fan letter, with no passion." Man, that’s harsh! But at least, CBS saved “Medium” so fans can still hop over the other network…

What do you think of this new shake-up at NBC? Does moving “Heroes” mean NBC still believes in the series or has the show begun to lose it’s grip with the powers-that-matter?

SHOCKING NEWS!!! Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander were fired from “Heroes”!

As writer-producers, Loeb and Alexander were also in charge of day-to-day productions. Alexander directed last week’s episode, and Loeb already finished the script for the volume 3 finale called “War.”

According to Variety, the writers were fired from the show because of creative differences, an overwhelming pressure to slash the show’s $4 mllion/episode budget, and a falling show ratings.  Apparently, NBC does not like where show is going. The Entertainment Weekly article that came out last week may have been the last straw.

Would the firing of the writer-producers Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander bring a fresh wind to the series? Bryan Fuller of Pushing Daisies is rumored to replace the pair. Whoever ends up sitting on this new chair will have his work cut out for him.

NBC announced the premiere dates for its fall line-up of shows, including– (drumroll…)

THREE HOURS OF HEROES!

YUP. The first hour of Heroes will be a ‘clip show’, followed by two hours of premiere. Several of the cast members, including Hayden Panettiere, said the Heroes season 3 is phenomenal. She read the script of the first episode and commented that the writers have gotten back their mojo, the magic of the first season.

Season 3 “Volume 3: Villains” will return on September 15. Fans will be treated to 3 hours of Heroes night. The first hour is devoted to a recap of Season 2, and the premiere is a solid two hours of great TV.

But NBC has more good news for us!

New chapters of webisodes for “Heroes” will air on NBC.com starting in July. Each webisode chapter will also weave online with on-air creative to give us a richer entertainment experience.

Now that’s what we want to hear. We have been Heroes-starved for too long…

Heroes and Sprint’s campaign “CREATE YOUR HERO” gives Heroes fans a chance to create a new hero that will be featured in a new series of live action webisodes next year and the possible inclusion of the character into the show itself.

You’ll vote on various physical and personality attributes for the creation of a new hero. There will be one male hero and one female hero, created from the culmination of the most voted attributes. The new heroes will come to life in an original, live action series, which will run exclusively on NBC.com.

Heroes:Generations may end sooner than we all like, what with the NBC writers’ strike confirmed to begin on Monday. TV Guide’s Ausiello reports that the Heroes cast is coming back to shoot an alternate ending for the December 3 episode that can be used as a season finale!

On top of that, the spin-off Heroes:Origins have been officially, indefinitely shelved.

OK, I feel sick now.

A brewing writers’ strike has NBC cancelling the Heroes: Origins, the much-publicized Heroes spin-off!

TV Guide has the scoop -

The network declined comment, but sources said the possible strike by the Writers Guild of America — which could happen after the guild’s contract expires midnight Thursday — played a role in the decision.

“Looking at everything in context of the strike, we’re evaluating all of our production commitments,” said one insider. “Scripts haven’t been written yet.”

If the labor situation changes quickly, the network could revisit the decision to scrap the show.

We’ll all be on our toes waiting to see this resolved well, for the sake of us Heroes’ fans.
