The four videos below might clue us in on the link between Suresh and Samuel. These are old footages from the Coyote Sands Relocation Center (“1961”) where Chandra Suresh (Ravi Kapoor), Mohinder’s father, used to work at back in 1961, and it looks like the Company were privy to an earthshaking phenomenon back then.

On March 5th 1961, Chandra discovers a “force” that emanates from people with powers. It’s dangerous enough to house so many people with special abilities but to discover that these individuals“attract” each other is even more alarming.

And there’s more.

On Suresh’s next entry (entry #5), he was about to explain more about the “force” when an earthquake interrupts him. Watch the video clips after the cut.

Later entries (video below) record Chandra Suresh talking about an abnormal spike in seismic activity that might be one of the effects of the force on a pregnant woman.

On Entry #21, Dr. Chandra Suresh experiences the full effect of the cataclysmic event while studying his pregnant subject.

And for math genius among us, here is Dr. Chandra Suresh’s calculations, on footage. I can’t decipher the calculations but the drawing at the end seems to relate to that force he was talking about.

So, my guess is Mohinder discovered these videos and somehow put him on a direct path with Samuel. I won’t be surprised if he is the baby that was born during that period in 1961, and is he caused the earthquake during his birth.

But why Samuel killed him is still a mystery.

Ravi Kapoor is listed as a guest star on episode 4.10 “Brother’s Keeper” so these videos might appear in that episode, when Sendhil Ramamurthy (as Mohinder Suresh) also returns to the scenes. Ravi Kapoor is best known for his role in “Crossing Jordan”, which Tim Kring had directed.

It’s the final showdown for Heroes! Next Monday, the final episode for the volume “Fugitives” pits the heroes against Sylar. Yet again! Sylar plans on becoming President and the Petrellis are bent on stopping him. The promo trailer showed Claire and Sylar sharing a moment, but that’s not gonna last once Sylar goes after Nathan and Peter. 

Meanwhile, Ando and Hiro are about to storm the Hunter’s lair in Building 26, and they’ll be surprised to find Mohinder victimized.

The photos below show a little bit of spoilers, so we can start talking about what might be going on.

Sylar against the Petrellis. Claire and Peter seek refuge in what looks like a hotel or a nice house, but Sylar is right behind them. Peter seems to have a cut above his eyes, so Sylar must have gotten to him. Did Claire stop Sylar from sawing off Peter’s head? A very frightened Claire closes the door to hide from Sylar, but that’s not really going to help is it?

Maybe, the last photo shows what I think is about to happen.

Raiding Building 26. Ando and Hiro get inside Building 26 attempting to bring down the Hunter. They find a roomful of surprise waiting for them! Ando and Hiro has just revive Mohinder, when someone (or something) startles them.

How will it end? The Hunter and HRG face off! The heroes look on as a something burns down. How will season 3 end? Greg Grunberg spoils that his character will do something “incredibly dark” that ends in someone’s death.

“It’s not expected. It’s pretty sick. Torture is involved. It’s someone we all know. It felt great to tap into my dark side."

Heroes episode 3.17  Cold Wars

So, what did you think of episode 17? Did “Cold Wars” meet your expectations of the man behind the horn-rimmed-glasses?

Monday’s episode focused on unraveling the plans of Nathan Petrelli and making sense of the enigmatic Noah Bennet. Matt Parkman forced his way into Bennet’s memories to find out why people with abilities were being hunted, and how the fugitives can fight back. But there was more to the episode than just answering questions, and we found out that HRG was behind the scenes all along.

It all started five weeks ago (read: flashback) , when Angela Petrelli gave Noah Bennet his “separation pay and pension”, and a Rolex watch for being a faithful Primatech employee for 20 years. The Company Man never looked so lost as in that scene. What’s he going to do with his life, now that he’s unemployed out of his life’s work? “There is only so much cross-word puzzle I can do” was Bennet’s woeful response.

And then Nathan Petrelli comes in and asks for Noah’s help to do what he was so good at – bagging and tagging people. Nathan has set certain things in motion, and he needs Bennet’s expertise. I think in Bennet’s mind, this was too good to pass up, this chance to be useful again. Besides Bennet is leading the operation this time around, or at least that’s what he was made to think.

Noah Bennet found out too late that Nathan changed gears, and brought in The Hunter, a single-minded government agent bent on winning the “war” against the new breed of domestic terrorists. Bennet tried to explain that most of those people are harmless and innocent, but he learned the hard way never to trust a politician, even if he’s your boss’ son. Bennet also had to earn The Hunter’s trust, who thinks HRG has become soft and “split” in his vision. As the Hunter told Nathan, HRG’s (and Nathan’s) decisions are tarnished because of their relationship with Claire.

Matt found out that Bennet has a storage facility in Costa Verde where he kept Primatech information and weapons. Peter went to the facility to get supplies for themselves, but did not see a hidden camera that fed into Building 26. Nathan explicitly told the agents to catch Peter alive and unhurt, and of course the Hunter grudgingly obliged. Peter barely escaped capture by dropping a gas bomb and flying out of there as fast as he can!

As Matt continues to get into Bennet’s mind, Mohinder expressed reservations about the mind-reader’s abilities. But when Matt found out that Mohinder knew ahead of everyone that the government had been planning something big and dangerous, Matt snapped and attacked Mohinder, blaming the doctor for Daphne’s death. Bennet untied himself while the two men were fighting, and he almost would have escaped had not Peter caught him again. And I love how Peter jumped (or flew down) on top of Bennet’s escape car! Classic superman!

Matt also learned from Bennet that someone else is running the show – the Hunter. He supplied Peter the address of the Hunter’s apartment. And as always thinking with his heart rather than his head, Peter went to the apartment even when Bennet warned them not to. Bennet’s warning – “You’re making a big mistake. You’re unraveling things you don’t understand!” was so cryptic you immediately ask what HRG really knows.

Peter goes to the apartment and holds The Hunter at gunpoint. Older brother Nathan comes flies to the rescue. He warns Peter that killing Danko would just feed into their fear of posthumans, and convince the world that these are very dangerous fugitives. That wasn’t about to get Peter to stop until Nathan told him Matt and Mohinder were in danger.

SWAT teams were closing in on Mohinder and Matt, and Bennet tells them to escape. Mohinder holds the agents back as Matt probes Bennet’s memories again. Daphne is alive! Peter comes just in time to fly away with Matt!

When the dust settled, HRG tells the Hunter that he’s learned his lesson, about how dangerous the fugitives really are, and he is fully on board. Unknown to the Hunter, HRG meets with Angela. “All things considered, everything is working according to plan.”

At Isaac’s abandoned loft, Matt is in frantically painting in a trace. A distraught Matt pictures of himself strapped with explosives around his body, and a gigantic painting on the floor shows Washington DC exploding! That’s certainly more than he bargained for!

Next week, Heroes continues with episode 3.18 “Exposed”. Matt and Peter will attempt to rescue Daphne and find more information about Nathan’s plans. Also, Claire gets kissed underwater!

We may know soon enough what Matt Parkman is capable of, when he interrogates H.R.G. (Jack Coleman). Where is the Haitian when he needs him now? HRG is not so invincible now, is he?

Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) drugs Bennet while Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) looks on. An argument seems to erupt between Parkman and the fugitives. What’s eating the mind-reader?

The airplane carrying people with post-human abilities has crashed in some mountainous area. From the last episode we know several people are on that plane – Claire Bennet, HRG, Peter Petrelli, Mohinder Suresh, Tracy Strauss, Hiro Nakamura and Matt Parkman. Now the government steps up effort to target them and there is no time to waste.

In the teaser photos for “Trust and Blood” episode 3.15, Claire, Daphne Millbrook, Ando Masahashi, Parkman, Masi and Mohinder are seen hiding from something or someone. They’re behind the wreckage of the plane in some rocky mountain. Claire and Daphne seem to be running (and we can’t tell from the shot if Daphne is super-speeding). The last image shows one character who is down and someone is shouting for help.

  Heroes returned to television with a new storyline called Volume 4: Fugitives, and the first few minutes were spellbinding!

Last night, the first episode (Clear and Present Danger) didn’t waste anytime introducing the characters. We know who they are, and what they can do, even though very few of the characters showed their abilities. And yet, even if you have never followed Heroes previously, you can immediately tell there is something different and special about these individuals. They talk about lying low, living normal lives, getting on with their lives, and hints of previous lives that are crazy and scary. And someone thinks they are too dangerous to be out on the streets and they need to be put away.

We already know so much about this episode anyway, from the massive previews, sneak peeks and interviews, but those didn’t take away from the thrill of being glued to our seats. There is enough tension and conflict as the episode rapidly progresses, and hopefully this kind of pacing previews the rest of the season. And yet the story pauses to establish certain relationships. Peter and Nathan still hate each other – the idealistic versus the pragmatic. Hiro and Ando may have switched the roles of superhero and sidekick but there is no doubt Hiro is still more heroic. Mohinder’s and Peter’s views of what their powers mean for the world are both correct and yet so opposite.

And then there’s Sylar. Is he not as villainous and power-hungry as we knew him to be? We know he has parent-issues, but now he wants to know who his father really is. Nothing wrong with finding your roots, but… this is Sylar.

So let’s get on with the episode. The fourth volume’s first episode (Clear and Present Danger) set the stage for the rest of the season.

Senator Nathan Petrelli  (Adrian Pasdar) is the new senate head of Homeland Security and he wants to get rid of “threats to national security”. He’s not talking about foreign terrorists but certain groups of individuals who have special powers that can become a danger to society. Or so he and the President of the United States think this. So Petrelli employs a covert military operation to bag-and-tag individuals with post-human evolved abilities.

Petrelli’s first victim is former girlfriend Tracy Strauss (Ali Larter), who has freezing abilities. That was a totally treacherous way to treat an ex and PR manager, don’t you think? Led by a mysterious man called the Hunter (Zeljko Ivanek), agents surrounds Tracy and darts her a chemical that makes her weak and then tazers her unconscious. This group knows what they’re doing and how to subdue the powers of people they’re taking down.

Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere) overhears a conversation between her grandmother Angela (Christine Rose) and Nathan about bringing down Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) and Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg). It had been Angela’s job to distract Claire with college applications but that obviously didn’t work. Claire calls Peter about her suspicions and he advices her to stay put while he talks to his mom.

Peter has been lying low as a paramedic and yet he feels frustrated that he can’t prevent the death of his patients. When Peter hails a taxi to his mother’s home, it turns out Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) is the driver. They talk about laying low for a while to draw as little attention to themselves as they can. And yet Nathan is displaying himself in the media preaching about threats to domestic security. Mohinder admits that their powers have the potential to become a danger to society but Peter does not agree. Peter knows the good that his own powers can do, but Mohinder still recalls the monster he used to be, and their experiences have polarized their views about evolved abilities.

Peter didn’t find his mother at the house, but Nathan was there and you can tell there is bad blood between the two brothers. Nathan tries to convince Peter that his great idea is for the good of everyone. But Nathan is a total hypocrite who wants to save his own skin. First he wanted nothing to do with having powers and used to despise his flying abilities. Then he wanted to give the everyone in the world amped abilities because he thought that would give people a fair chance at fighting corruption. Now after Pinehearst burned down, he wants to get rid of everyone but his own family! And he wants Peter’s support about it. But the idealistic younger brother would have nothing to do with Nathan, and so Nathan had him bagged too.

The Hunter and his agents track down Mohinder and guess who’s there to help them! HRG (Jack Coleman)! Claire had been suspicious that her father went back to his previous job, but she would not have known this is how low he got. HRG has always looked at this from one point of view – these people are all dangerous and need to be locked up. Everyone, except his precious daughter Claire.

  The Hunter, HRG and this covert agency capture post-humans one by one. Parkman was taken down just as he was showing Claire his new abilities to draw the future. Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) was taken at the makeshift headquarters for his bestfriend and new-hero Ando Masahashi (James Kyson Lee) who is celebrating his powerhood by going to a strip club. The only person they could not subdue was Sylar (Zachary Quinto).

Sylar is on a quest to find his real family, why he does and what it will do for him, we don’t yet understands. But Gabriel/Sylar starts with his own watch-maker father, and finds out that his own uncle, a taxidermist, was his real father. At the taxidermist’s house, Sylar gets surrounded by the military, but then nobody can take him down and Sylar may have found out who was really after him.

Somewhere in a private airplane hangar, Nathan waits while black vans arrive one by one carrying people in hoods – in orange suits, chained together and drugged. The Hunter tells Nathan about Sylar and Claire. Nathan takes out Claire’s mask, puts her in a car and tells her to forget everything she saw. He obviously doesn’t know his daughter very much. She’s never been one to keep quiet or back down. So Claire kicks her driver unconscious and runs back to the airplane that’s about to take off. Claire sneaks under the wheel well and into the cargo hold where she begins freeing the other prisoners one by one. She got to Peter and he touches Mohinder to absorb his power of strength. Peter fights with the guards one by one but he accidentally touches Tracy’s hands and gets her freezing abilities. Meanwhile Claire goes to the cockpit to tell the pilot to make a landing when she finds her father there! Back in the cargo, Peter accidentally touches the plane’s wall and freezes it! The walls explode and everything goes flying out, including Peter! Mohinder catches him just in time, but as the plane begins to crash… can Peter hold on?

This Heroes episode continues next week with episode 3.15 “Trust and Blood”

In the huddle were Ando Masahashi (James Kyson Lee), Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia), Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar), Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) and Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg). At the sidelines were Noah (Jack Coleman) and daughter Claire (Hayden Panettiere) and Angela Petrelli (Christine Rose). And did you see the solar eclipse in the background?

Quarterback Peter threw the ball to bro Nathan who flew with the ball but was tackled by an NFL! Claire got into the game but was thrown down and momentarily injured with broken bones. If only all NFL players can regenerate like she can! Hiro stopped time and ran with the ball to touchdown!

Oh, and then Sylar (Zachary Quinto) appeared and zapped the ball to smitterin’s.

Very cool.

When “Heroes Fugitives” returns next Monday with volume 4, the heroes will attempt to hide under the radar by resuming their ‘normal lives’. Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) will drive his cab, Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) resumes being a nurse and the others go back to what they were doing before all the craziness of saving the world from explosions, viruses and formulas began. But it’s not that they got tired of saving the world.

Instead, the heroes are trying to stay under the radar, and attracting as little attention to themselves as possible. Now the government is watching and is on the look out for anyone who has special abilities. Peter gets into Mohinder’s taxi cab and they talk about staying out of trouble. Peter asks Mohinder if he’s ever got the feeling he was meant to do something extraordinary, and the cab driver laughs, remembering the first time he and Peter met. But now, Mohinder has a change of heart and admits he was mistaken about having a higher destiny. They talk about staying low and intentionally not seeing others like them. Except for Nathan, who is playing up his publicity and appears in every major media. Mohinder agrees that Nathan may have a point that their powers, if unrestricted and uncontrolled, can bring only danger. Mohinder should know, he was living proof of it.

Four months after saving the world from another destructive future, the heroes breathe a sigh of relief. The formula is destroyed, Arthur Petrelli is dead, Pinehearst and Primatech are all burned down, and Sylar is dead (or so they think).

It’s time to move on and start living normal lives. Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) and new love Daphne Millbrook (Brea Grant) try to start a new life together. Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) goes back to being a nurse. Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) is back to his taxi, and Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere) is picking out colleges. Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) is training newbie super-hero Ando Masahashi (James Kyson Lee) to use his powers.

Unfortunately, their relief won’t last long. Claire believes Sylar isn’t really dead and she should know because he’s as indestructible as she is. And then she gets word that her bio-dad Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar), of all people, is plotting to bag-and-tag people with abilities! Just like Primatech used to do, except the US government is involved.

This time, the heroes are fighting for their own survival as humans.

Claire Bennet approaches Matt and tells him about the impending threat, only maybe it’s a little too late for Matt.
