In my mind, the Thanksgiving Holiday is a day to make amends as you thank the people you love and loved you. And this HEROES episode looks no different than what might be happening in real life. Like the Bennet family for instance. H.R.G. will host a thanksgiving dinner for his family! And that means Lyle, mom Sandra and Claire will all be at the same table so this is a chance for H.R.G to redeem his life back.

And it looks like the Petrelli family is about to have their own celebration as well. Nathan has showed up again and Angela’s world is now complete. Poor woman. Her world has continued to revolve around this one son to the complete ignorance of another.

Although now that Sylar knows who was responsible for his split “personalities”, he might be hunting down Nathan Petrelli and try to get his body back, and he’s going to end with destroying the Petrellis.

THANKSGIVING UNITES FAMILIES TOGETHER AND BRINGS NEW REVELATIONS — H.R.G. (Jack Coleman) hosts an untraditional Thanksgiving dinner. Elsewhere, the Petrelli family gets a surprise guest at their table. Meanwhile, Samuel (Robert Knepper) continues to hold Hiro (Masi Oka) hostage, as Lydia (guest star Dawn Olivieri) goes in search for the truth. Greg Grunberg, Hayden Panettiere, Adrian Pasdar, Zachary Quinto, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Cristine Rose and Milo Ventimiglia also star. Ashley Crow, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Madeline Zima, Ray Park, Harry Perry, Elisabeth Rohm, Andrew Connolly also guest star.

I won’t be surprised if Sylar turns up at the Petrelli place. Unfortunately, he might come as Matt Parkman and that can throw off Angela completely. Where’s the Haitian when you need him?

As for the Carnival… Samuel is getting dangerously close to snapping. That’s just my opinion and nothing anywhere in the show indicates this. But the man has become reckless and desperate and I still can’t get why. I thought he was grieving his brother’s death. And then it was about bringing everyone in to the fold, which also didn’t make sense why he wanted to do that. So now is it about murdering Mohinder (which could make someone act like he did), and perhaps asking Hiro to cover it up or go back in time to change it.

One of these days, Samuel will make a really big mistake and bring his own demise.

What did you think of tonight’s episode on HEROES? I thought it was clever how of the writers to make you think one thing and then to bring out something else you didn’t expect. And “Tabula Rasa” had several of those tonight. Like Sylar/Gabriel for example. And Hiro’s illness.

OK let’s recap first and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Sylar/Gabriel in the Carnie family. So Samuel (Robert Knepper) “adopted” Gabriel (Zachary Quinto) in he knew instantly there was something wrong about Sylar’s personality. Samuel has heard of “Sylar, the most powerful among us” and the person standing in front of him felt anything but. Although Sylar displayed his powers unintentionally, he was really more confused, scared and depressed than ever. So Samuel thought he would jumpstart Sylar’s mind. Samuel asks Damian (guest star Harry Perry) to show Sylar who he really is. Inside the House of Mirrors, Sylar was shown his heinous crimes – killing his mom, taking people’s brains out. But Sylar saw himself as the monster that he has been afraid of all this time! Instead of opening his mind and embracing his identity, Gabriel was even more confused and scared. Samuel even manipulated Gabriel to kill the detective who was tracking him. Instead, Gabriel warned the man to get out of the carnival as fast as he can. Unfortunately, Edgar (Ray Park) got to the cop and killed him. At the end of the night, Samuel took Gabriel in and baptized him into the Carnival family. Edgar complained that they have a tiger in their midst who doesn’t know how to kill, but Samuel took that as an opportunity to mold this new Gabriel/Sylar into their liking.

What Samuel never realized (and of course the viewers do) is that the man inside Sylar’s body is not him – it’s Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar). When Samuel had asked him what he wants to be called, Sylar first thought of “Nathan, call me Nathan”. Sylar identified with the sounds of military planes passing by – he recalls flying an aircraft like that, and for a fleeting moment, Sylar’s face shifted to look like Nathan’s. Sylar also thought he might have been a politician before. Plus, Sylar got attracted to Lydia (Dawn Olivieri), a trait that is more Nathan than Sylar.

So this gets really interesting! Nathan’s memories are inside Sylar’s body, and yet previously when Sylar took on Nathan’s form, it felt foreign to think of Nathan’s memories as his. Weird twist but very interesting.
I was waiting for this episode to get Sylar-the-villain back, but that would have been too easy (and too early in the season). This twist gives the writers opportunity to weave Sylar and Samuel’s fates – who is the real villain. We’ll have to see who emerges out of Sylar in the end.

  Hiro, Peter and Emma and Noah. Hiro (Masi Oka) teleported to Peter’s (Milo Ventimiglia) apartment just before fainting. It’s not clear yet why Hiro went toward Peter – did Peter need help? “No.”(“Yes, really, c’mon). Maybe Peter is supposed to help a dying Hiro. So Peter absorbs Hiro’s powers and teleports to Noah’s (Jack Coleman) house to ask help from the Company man. Funny thing is, Peter ends up in the bathroom (his teleporting skills are rusty!). It just so happens that Claire (Hayden Panettiere) is in her dad’s apartment to do laundry. Peter explains Hiro’s condition and Claire volunteers her blood to heal Hiro (the same question on every fan’s mind!). Noah advises against that idea since Claire’s blood is regenerative – it will only make the tumor grow faster. Oh. But Noah knows a boy – Jeremy Greer (guest star Mark L. Young)- who can help Hiro, so Peter and Noah vanish into thin air and teleport to Georgia.

Earlier, Peter had introduced Hiro to Emma (Deanne Bray) as someone who can answer all her questions about powers and abilities and Hiro gets ingenious in teaching Emma that her abilities are not a curse but a gift to help others. Pretending to be Hiro the Magnificent, Hiro performs magic tricks in front of patients and hospital staff. He stops time to make Emma see that his powers can be about helping people. When Emma asks him how he keeps such a positive attitude, Hiro remembers Charlie, who taught him about joy in the midst of adversity. And that’s when Hiro had an epiphany!

Meanwhile, Peter and Noah arrive in Georgia and find Jeremy Greer’s house to be in shambles. Plants and animals around the house were either dead or dying. Inside, Noah and Peter find Jeremy’s parents dead in their seats. Something had happened to Jeremy’s powers so everything he touches dies! Noah tells Jeremy he has both powers – to give life and take it back. The frightened young boy has a big rifle aimed at Noah and unfortunately, it goes off and hits Peter right in the chest! Noah pleads with the young man to heal Peter – that he has it in him to do it – and Jeremy does! Whew. I thought Peter was a goner.

Peter absorbs Jeremy’s healing powers and goes back to New York (this time, the normally slow way). Noah asks to be left behind and get Jeremy’s life in order. He had bagged and tagged Jeremy four years back and erased his memories so he can’t use his powers, but Noah never thought to help the kid. Now is Noah’s chance to finally do something positive in his life.

Back in New York, Peter learns from Emma that Hiro has vanished. And the only clue left is a note from Hiro – “Save Charlie!”. The next thing we know, Charlie is in Texas, back at the Burnt toast diner and Charlie is alive.

This is the story of how Sylar got his body back. But poor Nathan. He was really only trying to right some wrong. But where are my manners? Let’s start from the beginning. Tonight’s episode on HEROES is titled “Acceptance” and it centers on three major players – Sylar/Nathan, Hiro and Tracy-Noah. So let’s recap –

Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) has been telling his family that he’s had memories that don’t seem like his own, so Angela gets him some stuff to help him remember the past. Unfortunately, touching a baseball cap brings Nathan’s memories of an accidental death involving Millie’s daughter years ago in college. And Nathan sets out to right what was wrong. He tells Millie the truth, and even how his family covered up. And then of course, Millie got Nathan killed! Three times in the chest too. And then just when we thought Nathan is gone, a hand reaches up and it’s Sylar (Zachary Quinto).

This is also how Hiro (Masi Oka) accepted his fate. With his days being numbered, Hiro wanted to right all the wrongs he has done in his life, and maybe to use his powers to do good. He sees a chance to change someone’s past – to keep a man from killing himself -  but the present still kept happening. Until tired of intervening, Hiro simply accepts the man’s fate. And that’s when it changed – the man changed his mind and lived. And Hiro realized that he has to accept his own fate too. And so he finally tells his sister Kimiko that he has terminal illness. And then Hiro disappears right before her eyes!

Heeding Noah’s advice to get her life back, Tracy meets her old boss Senator Malden, and he gives her old job back – what she does best – to seduce and convince powerful men to support the senator’s cause. But Tracy realized that she didn’t want her old life back after all. Maybe she has changed, but now she wants to make a difference.

Meanwhile, Noah is back as a “Company Man”, gathering evidence about the compass tattoo that appeared on Peter’s arms – “the compass that changed the world”. Lydia senses that Noah has become interested in the Carnival, and Noah’s face appears on her tattoo.

Sylar and Samuel are the worst combination!!!!  And it’s happening in this episode of HEROES when “Sylar begins his journey to find his identity”.

The title “Tabula Rasa” (blank slate) means that people are born without any mental content, and nurture alone shapes a person. This makes the friendship between Sylar (Zachary Quinto) and Samuel (Robert Knepper) even more dangerous! We don’t know that Samuel is purely good or purely evil, but he is definitely not without an ulterior motive when it comes to the heroes.

Meanwhile, Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) is on a new quest – he will try to save Hiro’s (Masi Oka) life! Will he succeed? Is there someone who can heal Hiro’s illness? Hmm, I can think of someone that used to be close to Peter. *wink*

SYLAR BEGINS HIS JOURNEY TO FIND HIS IDENTITY AND PETER COMES TO THE RESCUE OF ONE OF HIS OWN – ELLEN GREENE, RAY PARK, DAWN OLIVIERI, DEANNE BRAY AND ERNIE HUDSON GUEST STAR – Under Samuel’s (Robert Knepper) guidance, Sylar (Zachary Quinto) starts on a path to rediscover his true identity. Hiro (Masi Oka) helps Emma (guest star Deanne Bray) accept and understand the great possibilities that go along with having an ability. Meanwhile, Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) enlists HRG (Jack Coleman) to help him find a healer who can save Hiro’s life. Hayden Panettiere also stars. Mark L. Young also guest stars.

I wonder how Hiro crosses paths with Emma?  Maybe this is the episode where everyone gets to reinvent themselves. After all this volume is titled “Redemption”.

Ali Larter looks gorgeous in these promo pictures for HEROES episode 4.04 titled “Acceptance”. Swoosie Kurtz guest stars in her recurring role as Millie Houston,and Bruce Boxleitner is Senator Malden.

But I have to warn you the photos contain SPOILERS so beware if you take a peak after the cut!

In the synopsis, “Tracy (Ali Larter) is determined to get her old job back, but soon realizes that she needs to make more of an impact”. Going back to her former boss-lover might be the route Tracy is going. Judging from these photos, Tracy is doing a great job of impressing Senator Malden.

There is also a series of pictures of Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar) and Millie Houston (Kutz) so I’m guessing this is the memory trip that Angela wants her son to have. Only of course, Nathan isn’t exactly himself.

NBC is on a roll! It’s only two days till HEROES so things are ramping up a little at the Peacock network. Of course, we’d love us some photos and sneak peeks too, but this spoilery summary is good.

HEROES volume 5, this time for episode 4.04 titled “Acceptance”:

THE HEROES ARE TRYING TO ASSIMILATE BACK INTO THEIR OLD LIVES — ROBERT KNEPPER, RAY PARK, BRUCE BOXLEITNER AND SWOOSIE KURTZ GUEST STAR — As Hiro’s (Masi Oka) life continues to hang in the balance, he distracts himself with saving the lives of others. Meanwhile, Angela (Cristine Rose) tries to help the new “Nathan” (Adrian Pasdar) remember his past, at the risk of his remembering too much. Elsewhere, Tracy (Ali Larter) is determined to get her old job back, but soon realizes that she needs to make more of an impact. Jack Coleman, James Kyson Lee, Zachary Quinto and Milo Ventimiglia also star. Ashley Crow, Saemi Nakamura and Dawn Olivieri also guest star.

So the heroes are trying to get back into their lives but the past is catching up to them. Hmmm. What Angela is doing is quite scary. I’m sure she’ll wake up the “sleeping giant” and if Sylar’s not conscious of where he is yet, it really won’t be long before he realizes he is not Nathan. Bad move, mama P.

Meanwhile, I wonder what Tracy will do to get her old life back. That woman is dangerous I tell you that. She is self-preservation with a capital S, and she often gets what she wants too. Well, especially now that she’s the ice queen.

And poor Hiro (Masi Oka). Do you think Hiro will die? I sure hope not. You know there’s been rumor that one of the cast wants out right? (Or has that been going around already). I can’t picture HEROES without Hiro. Maybe they will resurrect him, or find someone new with powers to heal him… Or wait, we have Claire to do that! CLAIRE, yoohoo!

Well, we only have to wait for two days and HEROES comes back, so we’ll know a little by Monday night!

It’s what we’ve been waiting for folks! We finally get photos of the premiere episode of HEROES Volume 5 (Redemption). And I’ve got to show these in two parts – the heroes and the Carnival, because there’s just so many of them it’ll be hard to load.

And you better be prepared for plenty of great SPOILERS in these images….

It looks like Hiro (Masi Oka) is in a bad shape. Ando (James Kyson Lee) is pulling him on a gurney so Hiro is either too sick to move or he is immovable in some kind of shock or time-trance. Danko the Hunter (Zeljko Ivanek) is not doing too well, and Tracy Strauss (Ali Larter) is in trouble too. What a way to start the new season! But Claire (Hayden Panettiere) is hoping for a more normal life in college as daddy Noah Benned (Jack Coleman) says goodbye to his Claire-bear. Noah is back to his old game, only this time he’s running the new Company with Angela Petrelli (Christine Rose) and Tracy.

But is mama Angela seeing double? First minute she’s talking to her son Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) and the next minute he becomes Sylar (Zachary Quinto)!

"Heroes" Greg Grunberg and Jeff Gaspin, Chairman, NBC Universal Television Entertainment at NBC Press Tour

After last season, Greg’s and Adrian’s characters now share something in common – SYLAR. After Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) melted Sylar’s (Zachary Quinto) mind and made him into Nathan (Adrian Pasdar),  Sylar now inhabits Nathan’s body but a “piece” of his mind was transferred to Matt also.

Greg and Adrian spoil the new volume Redemption when they talked with NBC, so beware that you’ll get spoilers from hereon…

Well, now Sylar wants out, but the only way for him to get his body back is for Matt to give it to him. So Sylar kidnaps Matt’s son!  Watch the video…

Tim Kring started the Q&A by thanking fans and explaining what volume 5:Redemption is all about. As the story goes, the characters are trying to come back to a normal life – “but what is a normal life?” – and trying to assimilate themselves back into society despite their powers. At the same time, we discover a group of people called the Carnival who have been living among us all this time and hiding in daylight.

The videos I posted came from different users so there is no continuity of coverage for the whole hour. It’s still fun to watch the highlights of Saturday’s panel. Each of the major cast share what their characters are doing this season. There are new arcs to each of the major characters. Masi Oka’s Hiro has a terminal illness and we won’t know how long he lives. Hayden Panettiere’s Claire Bennet will be off to college and striking a “relationship … friendship” with a strange freshman girl. Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar) is sharing a body with Sylar (Zachary Quinto), and Sylar will mess up the head of Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg). Milo Ventimiglia’s description of Peter was most interesting!

In the Q&A, Zach gets a lot of questions, as did Hayden Panettiere. One fan even got a chance to get Hayden to meet him after the panel. Lucky guy!

Adrian was exceptional in “Heroes” season 3 as the back-stabbing, self-serving senator Nathan Petrelli who got all the post-humans in big trouble with the government. Up until his last days, you never knew whose side Nathan was on. Let me rephrase that – Nathan will always look after his own skin, no matter whose side he’s on. And that’s what Adrian  Pasdar portrayed really well last year.

So, congrats to Mr. Pasdar for the recognition!

Saturn Awards is one of the most notable events in the science fiction fantasy film industry, and getting recognized by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films says something about the work that actors do in his genre.

Also in attendance at the Awards was Christine Rose, the stunning Kristen Bell, and a host of other stars, photos of which I’ll post up next.
