DVD Review: “Marvel X-Men Vol. 3 and 4”
September 26, 2009 by Grace
I just posted a review of the “X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE” so I’m just telling you now that this is NOT a duplicate post. Rather, this is my second X-MEN series to enjoy watching and reviewing.
I have the Marvel DVD Comic Book Collection for X-MEN Volumes 3 and 4 … and boy did I have a marathon watching 28 episodes!
But it’s all good, and it was worth it. These episodes are a must-see if you are a fan of the X-Men comic book. The episodes have been created from the pages of the original Marvel comic …read more
DVD Review: “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”
I love watching action-adventure films on the big screen. There’s nothing like seeing the effects, whether live action stunts or CG, being blown up and maxed out. So I was very disappointed when “X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE” came out in theaters May 1 and I couldn’t make time out of my overcrowded schedule. And I was more surprised when early reviews rated the Hugh Jackman starrer as “disappointing”. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a measly 33%! Was it really that bad?
But it was an X-MEN so of course waited for the DVD, which came out on September 15. And I …read more

Movie: ASTROBOY
Release Date: October 23, 2009
Genre: Family, Action Adventure, Comedy
Have I told you I grew up watching ASTROBOY? This was one of the television manga shows that my siblings and I watched right after school, along with VOLTES 5, G-FORCE, and VOLTRON! Talk about nostalgia. So I am just thrilled that ASTROBOY finally makes its debut on the big screen!
ASTROBOY is one of those characters that children can easily relate to. The story and film is about scientist Dr. Tenma who creates a young robot, Astro, who has incredible powers. Astro is powered by a positive “blue” energy and has …read more
Disney To Buy Marvel for $4B
Can you picture Mickey Mouse and Iron Man in a movie together? Far out improbable and totally hilarious but hey it’s doable now that the Walt Disney Co. offered to buy Marvel Entertainment for $4B.
Iron Man, X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and even the Hulk will now be calling Disney Studios as “home” if the plans for a Disney acquisition of Marvel Entertainment pushes through, reports the Associated Press this morning. It looks like all 5,000 Marvel characters could be owned by Disney if its shareholders say OK to the deal.
It would look weird seeing the shining castle of Cinderella …read more

Masi Oka, and a look at Disney’s “PONYO”
August 4, 2009 by Grace
This is one of those fortunate accidents that lead to a beautiful discovery… I was looking for sightings of Masi Oka and found him at the screening of the animated film “PONYO”.
PONYO is the story of a girl-goldfish who wanted to become human. Sounds like Disney’s “ARIAL”? Actually it doesn’t. I watched the trailer below and was impressed by the story and animation. It’s very cartoonish, not at all CG, but it it’s still great quality. It’s certainly something I would like my kids to watch.
The animation is adapted from the Japanese film PONYO and is written/directed by …read more
